A person I know has pictures on his myspace of his speedo going past 200 (the limit on his speedo) and other pictures of him speeding. And the stupid part is hes the son of a cop. (he always gets out of trouble too...)

police have already started trying to get people to run off the traffic lights, i know of 1 bloke (wont say what type of car he was driving and wasnt a young driver) who was challenge off the lights by what appeared to be a couple of young blokes in an XR6, he nailed it off the line, beat the xr6, they pulled behind him and bingo, undercover cops with windscreen lights ablaze, car defected although wasnt impounded.
in another example a friend of mine driving on anzac highway where he too was "harrased" by a certain xr6 but he chose just to drive off normally, the xr6 was cruising along side of him trying to get him to run, when it was apparant that he wasnt going to play the game with him they pulled behind him where he noticed the little red and blue lights in each corner of the windscreen...
i think its a disgrace that these antics are being employed by the police, fair enough if people are getting caught doing the wrong thing, but to purposely go out and egg drivers on to do the wrong thing is just plain wrong!!! heres an idea... WHY DONT THE SA GOVERNMENT DO SOMETHING GOOD BY GIVING ADELAIDES YOUNG AND NOT SO YOUNG DRIVERS SOMEWHERE TO GO RACE THEIR CARS AND ENJOY THEM IN A SAFE SUPERVISED ENVIROMENT...

Theres no proof of where or when the pics were taken? The pic of the speedo could be taken on a dyno, and the picture on the road could be in the NT before the speed limits were introduced.....

I might take my car down to the dyno, not for a run just to get a pic of it on 250 haha

Don't start this crap about 'harassment' and entrapment. If you are stupid enough to drag off ANY car then blame the other car for making you do it then who is the idiot?!?! Just proves to me that some people are unable to think for themselves. I would rather someone drag off an undercover cop and get busted than some stupid little wanker who has had his licence for three days and kill someone else.

agreed, if ur stupid enough to drag off the line, BUT, to take off normaly and get harrased to have a run when u r cruising down the road, minding your own business is wrong.... i suggest u get your head out of your rear end, or maybe your related to a cop????????????????

its only drag racing if the other person is racing, otherwise, its "excessive acceleration, excessive noise, and possibly speeding"

so, if you speed up to the speed limit, don't loose traction, don't screech tyres, etc... and the other person obviously isn't racing (seeing as its a police officer, and drag racing is illegal)

While I mostly agree with that, I would also say that if you roll up to someone and egg them on to have a drag, it's like in a fight if someone throws the first punch, you're probably going to throw some back.

If the other guy started it then it may well be fair say that if he hadn't egged you on then you wouldn't have dragged anyone. At the end of the day it is a dick swinging exercise, but it's still entrapment and I'd expect cops to be above that.

but it isn't a race unless the other car is racing (undercover police car) which means the only way they can book you for racing is if they admit they were racing!

Tracks wont fix a bloody thing, look at Melbourne, there is access to 4 different tracks within 3 hours of the CBD, yet they are impounding cars all over the place, so once again logic is flawed.

How is it wrong? If they weren't police they would have raced and got away with it, the fact they did it says they do not have the mental capacity to own a motor vehicle and should get the **** off our roads. What makes it worse is one of them was 50...****ing hell, do people never grow up? That is sadly pathetic.
