Banning Topless Sunbaking at Beaches

Topless ban to protect Muslims and Asians: Nile - National - smh.com.au

Had a read of that and thought it was total bull poop (swearing filter :P)

It does raise an interesting issue though.

Do you think that people to immigrate to Australia from other cultures should adjust to our ways or should our culture adjust to fit their beliefs?

Personally I think is if your moving to Australia, your moving to Australia... not Austa-asian-middleeast-ia.

I appreciate that we have a multicultural population, but why should someone else's belief be forced onto me?

I for one am all for topless sunbaking... Having said that I would introduce some "guidelines"

lol

But seriously. Not cool if this sort of ban goes ahead...

Same sort of deal as trying to ban Santa from primary schools...

What are others opinions on this?

Yes they should adjust to OUR CULTURE.

If you go anywhere else in the world you have to adjust to their culture. Can you imagine going to mussy world Lebanon and sun baking topless as a woman? Maybe we could take our women to UAE and let them walk around in bikini's watch how quickly they are shot or raped because they "deserve" it. They certainly wouldn't change laws to suit others.

As far as Im concerned, if you DO NOT LIKE WHAT WE DO, **** OFF YOUR NOT WELCOME.

Personally I think it's a line...a very wide line with grey areas on both sides. Society is definetly changing and everywhere across the world is becoming multicultural...some places are just quicker on the uptake then others..such as Australia. But the question is, where do you draw the line? Not so much as who should adjust?

If they dont like it they can go back to where they came from....

Could not have said it any better myself mate, I can't even believe this has become an issue. They moved to our country, and they should learn to accept that our way of life is different from theirs. If it's that offensive to them, then don't go to the beach!!!!!!

Here is my take on it.

Australia has an open invitation to the world to come to the party (I'm going to use metaphors, stay with me here...). We are happy for basically anyone to come and join us here.

The people who come here have accepted this invitation.

Now in my book you don't go to someones party and then tell them that you think their house looks c**p and you don't like the food. And then demand them change the party to suit you.

If you don't like it, the doors that'a'way.

Minux hit the nail on the head, go anywhere else in the world and you have to adjust to their way of life. If anyone here has been to Japan, if you cannot speak Japanese or you ingore their culture, you are alienated very very quickly. Take a trip to the Middle East and try drink a beer, see how quickly you are strung up to the nearest tree.

Australia has its own culture, why should it be changed to suit the needs of those who are comming to this country, when they themselves would expect us to conform to their culture when in their country.

More direct to the topic at hand, I couldnt care less about topless sunbaking, I grew up on Queensland beaches so as a kid it was a farily normal thing to see, i think most Aussies who have spent a lot of time at the beach would say the same thing.

Damn, i'm OBVIOUSLY not going to the beach enough or just going to the wrong beaches!

Anyways, yea, they should accept our way of life if coming here. I knew someone that was filling up with petrol at a shell servo in DPCU (army cams uniform). Some guy from the middle east comes up to him and tries to start him up and says that we need to get out of his country and we shouldn't be fighting wars and just trying to get him to attack him i guess. At which point the guy i knew grabbed his keys and threw them towards the main road, actually landed on the road as a semi trailer was coming along and flattened his keys.

To make things better, this old lady comes up to him and says "good work sunny, if he doesn't like our country he can ****ing go back to his own country"

seriously though they came here, they knew what australia is like, they have seen all the tourism ads, it was totally there choice, but yet the have the hide to complain about australia, just cause we let women do what they want. no one ever complains about there way of life in there country, you would proberbly get shot if you did that,.

another thing, at what point are you concidered topless???, once you see nipple??? cause ive seen some very small bikinis which basicly jsut cover the nipple(which are great) which they would proberbly still get offended over,
