    Default Best beer for beginners

Just wondering what the easiest beer is to start drinking as i havent developed the taste for beer yet. I can only drink spirits eg boubon and vodka so far. all my mates used to hate beer now they love it. any tips would be great

Stick to bourbon, scotch and Vodka! I used to be able to drink lots of beer, but recently i've lost it and can't drink much at all, but can drink heaps of whiskey!

Anyways, with beer probably Crown Larger is easy, as well as Corona. Cascade has a different taste. You might also like Hoegarrden too. VB is more a cheap one, you could try that too i guess, but doesn't have the same taste as the more expensive one, but still good, that's what i started with!

i am also a bourban drinker but if beer is the only thing availble i usually go for either TEDS (tooheys extra dry) or Pure Blonde but they have to be ice cold. Dont know how anyone could ever drink warm beer.

i used to drink nothing but rum - then i became an apprentice and found cheap beer. Start on VB gold then progress to tooheys extra dry.

beer tastes best when you are really hot and beer is really cold , like 2 degrees. Go mow the grass on a hot day then sit down and have a beer. you'll love it.
corona is sweet, the german ones are much heavier. try the cheap ones, NEW, carlton cold, then corona and hahn premium. oh, don't try light beer, it will turn you off for ever.

What i did was start with the cheap sh*t, and as you gain a taste for it you will be spending half as much as your mates for a night.

Carlton Cold is my beer of choice, really cheap but i started drinking VB haha.
As above, once you drink this stuff for a while I had my first Corona the other week and it tasted like heaven.

But there is no better taste than a Jim Beam and Coke

I second that! But i've only got one bottle of it left!

Oh yea, Heinken's good too! But since your used to spirits you might want the higher alcohol content beer! So probably year TED Platinum would probably be best! Or a whole keg to yourself!

    What beers have you tried?

If you're after a stronger flavoured beer with a high alcohol content then you've got a heap of choices.

But I'd probably recommend starting on Corona's or Fusions. Corona's are good because they're a pretty weakly flavoured beer, and by the time you put your lime or lemon wedge in there it's not even really beer anymore.

Once you can stomach those, take the citrus out.

And if you don't enjoy it, get them icy cold and scull them. Then after your fourth one you won't care as much.

Agreed on the Platinum's, they hit pretty well.

I had a mate who hated beer but now he loves it.
I slowly got him into it by feeding him strongbow dry, the sweet stuff tastes nothing like beer but the dry one does just enough to help slowly get into it, and soon after that he moved onto carona's and not long after that just drank any beer.

Coronas are my beer of choice. Carlton coldies and drys are also quite good. I'm not a spirits man really with the exception of tequila. Hate beam, way too sweet for me.

Coronas are one of the best probably to start on.

Vb i can't stomach but that taste is up to you.

Eventually after many nights binge drinking beer you'll get over it =P
and hit the bourbon again lol

You need to experiment and find what you like. Coronas are great but some of the draught beers etc also go down really well. Stay away from Carlton cold or XXXX.

Carlton Cold is vile. But if you drink VB, you must be saving a fortune over your mates who may drink Becks, Heineken, Carlsberg or Stella which is often only $4 a case more

As for which beers to drink, well it's up to the individual, some like the heavier beers, others like Corona. Steer clear of things like Tooheys Extra Dry though, they give you a mongrel of a hangover. And to all the spirits drinkers, nothing beats a cold beer on a 30+ degree afternoon. I couldn't imagine anything worse than drinking a JD and coke like that. I love my spirits, but leave the scotch on the rocks for the pubs or a night cap.

Just go to your local Dan Murhpys and buy a selection of singles, see which one you like. Everyones taste is different. Who knows, you may not even be a beer drinker at all!

i can only tell you what i like but you might have different taste.
tooheys extra dry - its ok (bit weak in flavour for me)
Melbourne Bitter - my favourite beer such a strong flavour out of can tho its
    crap.
VB - out of a can tastes like ass. out of a bottle its ok. but off the tap its
    bloody good.
corona's, Heiniken, Crown lager, pure blonde and tooheys new are so weak in flavour.
Boags - is a good beer off the tap and out of the bottle. out of a can pretty
    lame.
    Cascade - not to bad

since everyone has said what sprirts they like ill say mine WILD TURKEY FTW

Stay away from the 'cold', 'filtered' or 'dry' stuff. I find it usually gives me a headache after a couple. XXXX, VB and Crown (a premium VB) are not that good. Avoid Tooheys Red at all cost (if you can still find it, its what got me through uni).

I reckon start with Corona, as they are quite bland. Once you get a taste for it then you can progress to others.

Asahi, James Squire Golden Ale, Becks, Bitburger etc etc are good ones in my opinion.

Kent Brown and Tooheys Old are not bad for local stuff.
