Question What's the best way to store tools ?

I'm talking everything from shovels and saws to sockets and spanners.
Should i get a toolbox, or hang then on the wall ? At the moment they are all over the place and I can't find my pliers !!!

I have 2 lots of tools (one in my car which is one of those 80piece things) and all my other tools I keep in another tool box, spanners and hexes kept in their original holders and the sockets are all kept in a pencil case

(out door tools are kept in a corner near the back door)

I personally dont like hanging tools on the wall and i hate fishing through a tool box only to find the tool down the bottom.
i got some old drawers and cupboards from work which i store all my tools in.
1 drawer will contain all my hammers, another will contain all my loose spanners, another will have all pliers and grips etc.
i have one draw lined with 4 mesh baskets (came with the drawers) which contain all the littler loose items such as a heap of loose sockets and things like that.
everything is easily findable and i dont have to go searching through each drawer just to find something.
in the cupboards i have all my oils in one section, fluids in another, grease in another etc.

    Sockets, Pliers etc -

Roller Bearing tool drawers labelled properly using socket clips

    Out Door Tools -

On the wall with hooks etc.

    Hand tools (Saws etc)

    Wall mouts again

    Files, Rasps, Random tools -

Use a draw system... doesnt have to be as good as a bearing draw

    aZk.

I thought all men by default drew around the tools and hung them on the walls of the garage. Is there not some sort of ritual when a man moves, where his mates come over with beer and everyone takes a turn holding a tool up while someone draws around it?

I have always wanted to do that in the kitchen with the utensils etc for a laugh.

yep, thats the best way to do it.
its easier to grab something off a board than opening a drawer and you can easily see if youre missing something
