    Default I Need Help!!

    hey guys,

long story short, have a vs bt1 that i brought off a close mate of mine, week after having it 30 seconds from home, some ****ing retard decided it would funny to slam on the brakes under a bridge, i had know where to go, it was hit his towbar and hope for the best or, hit the bridge support post and pray i walk away.. so it locked up and hit the tow bar. not a scratch to his car and mine wasn't to good

    - Smashed drivers headlight
    - Destroyed the bar reo
    - Radiator support pannel bent (top one, and the drivers side side pannel support)
    - Smashed battery
    - bonnet folded in
and a few other little bits and pieces.

so a few hours ago his insurance company rang and said there not paying for the damage. (btw the insurance company hadn't swapped over the details for my name, so no insurance for me)

so i was already ****ing ****ed from that then, picked the car up after a quote and BANG ***ing bonnet flys up and smashes the f***in windscreen in!!! shredded the inside of the 1/4 pannels, a offiacly destroyed the bonnet. pannel beater said he tied it up tight and i'll be fine.
So, trying to get back to a mates (i got kicked out of home) no bonnet, covered in glass, and of course cop car drives past, but i wasnt gonna be hanging around.
and to make things worse the company i worked for (im only 19) shut down, and my boss wont pay me out. he owes me over 6 grand. so now i have to wait till like aprill to go to court.
i have no house, no money, and now no car.

im from lilydale, Victoria. is there anyone around here that could fix the damage to the support pannel? i've been told it has to be put on a straitener (like using winch) I'll try and get some photo's up but yeh im really in the shit, and i need the car so i can get work, so if there's ANYBODY that help in some way, i would be enteranly greatful. i'm just praying it will get better

i just dont know what else to do now...

    ben.

Bit confused here as you say you have been laid off work, then you ask if someone can fix your car so you can get to work?

Anyway that aside, sounds like you are in it pretty deep. Can you not approach your parents and make amends for whatever they booted you out of home, then at least have the support of your family?

Maybe someone on here can help you somehow.

    Good luck

thanks SAV. Yeah so i can get work.

well i loved my job (building race motor's, machining etc etc) and when we all got told that we are now job less (myself and two other blokes) and i took it really hard and pretty much "moped" around for a month and a bit. but i decided to get off my ass and work thru SKILLED.

Parent's ont wanna know me at the moment, so i've tried fixing it several times but, havent got far. so i will let them "cool off" for a bit and that way we can both think about whats going on.

im not asking anything for free, but what im asking is that if somebody has a mate thats able to do just fix the radiator pannel and straighten it out a bit from home on the cheap side or something.. just like even the little stuff ya know?

Couple of bits of advice (might not be much help but for future reference).

    - It is a very rare occasion that you run up the back of someone and it isn't considered your fault, the idea is that you follow at a safe distance. Sucks that insurance wasn't sorted first - lesson learned.

    - Don't use the lack of car as an excuse for not getting work. Use friends, public transport etc to get you started. Millions of people do it believe it or not.
If need be go and get yourself a $400 camry and get yourself where you need to be - this also works for lots of people.

Sorry i can't be of more help regarding the damage, sounds like you made a mistake and are paying dearly for it which is unfortunate but i reiterate don't use it as an excuse. Call it a small hurdle because believe me you'll encounter worse than this at some point in your life.

If all else fails do what i did when i smashed the datsun (very temporary and not safe), that was to use lots of brute force with a mallet and a fair bit of twined fencing wire and tech screws to get the car to a point where you can actually drive it even if it does look like crap.

EDIT what's the deal with taking your boss to court? What are the details there? it shouldn't have to go to court. Look up GEARS i think it's called, they might be able to help with the amounts owed if he folded due to finances.

Like the post above, get a cheap run-about, and use this for an 'excuse' to take the commy off the road and do a bit of work on it. Your last job was building race motors? use your expertise to build up a nice motor for the commy

probably isn't what you want to hear, but you could try selling the VS, or even scrapping it, which would bring you more dough still.

im not sure alot of ppl realise but an employer looks at if u have a car or license to get to work you will have less chance if u dont have it and maybe the 400 dollar camry is out of his price range right now because its not just 400 its rego and insurance which can end up bein 600 or 700 all up sooo how about we do a little more helping than just saying shit also taking him to court costs money HE DOESNT THE HAVE MONEY ATM

Depends what employer and hours, public transport is available to most, we all feel as though we can't live without a car but so many people don't have a car and do work (or only use the car on the weekend). The el cheapo run about could also be an option in the meantime, if you sell your bt1 you may get enough for a runner but without an income you honestly can't afford to have a car.

OP sorry to hear about your bad situation but unless your parents were bastards to you for no apparent reason then you have yourself to blame, for them to be ****ed at you. Go to Centrelink, you may be eligible for looking for work payments in the meantime and they can help you get work/accommodation.

I work in retail, it's not very well paying but I'm doing what I have to do - be prepared to work a shithouse job with crap hours for a while to survive.

i told him to look for ways other than court - who said to do that? he's saying he's doing it which is costing him money.

it also seems insurance isn't a big focus for this guy so a cheapo camry with rego would still be less than the repairs he can't afford.

Employers do look for transport, they'd rather someone with an old camry than a wrecked commodore so SELL THE WRECK.

You could also go for a bike, sounds like even if you fix this car up enough to drive if you ever get pulled over you will be rooted again anyway. Things are crap atm so try to stay positive and think with a clear head, good luck!!!

if the insurance is still under your friends name (as you implied) why not get him to make the claim?
doesnt matter who was driving the car, its still covered under his insurance.
otherwise im not sure what you mean by "the insurance company hadn't swapped over the details for my name, so no insurance for me".
that to me says its still under your mates name so there shouldnt be any issues - make the claim.

nah because he has lost his licence for 12 months for drink driving and because the cops are involved he makes the claim he'll get done because its only insured if he's driving.

sucks like that, dads on the same thing, only people over a certain age are insured when driving his car(s), so I had to be extra careful using it for my Ls
