don't worry, I'm with you on this one TVR, I admit I have eaten, drink what ever while driving but never with both hands and always try to keep as much concentration on the road as possible, especially when doing 80km. I passed a lady the other day eating with one hand and had a drink in the other she looked at me and i just shook my head and sped up. (We were doing 50 in a 60 zone, hence why I DID speed up)

EDIT: At post above...YEah, people who read the melways/UBD etc while driving, have it resting on te steering wheel...if something were to go wrong they be stuffed...

Eating and drinking is fine imo as long as you have at least one hand remotely on the wheel. Reading is just dumb though. I see people doing it all the time in eastwood.

Exactly, and as VT drivers will know, Maccas large drinks fit perfect in cup holder, Large fries fit nicely between seat and console behind handbrake, still in a good position to eat, and you can hook then new box's through the steering wheel nicely. I could swear maccas sponsored it somewhere.

Classic. The police state that is SA is supposedly about to crack down on any distraction from driving be it eating, drinking, smoking or anything that takes your hands and eyes from controlling your vehicle. The paper here even took a photo of a woman brushing her teeth on the way to work one morning. One has to ask though, where do you spit and rinse?

On the freeway i usually have a burger in 1 hand and my drink in my other hand (drive with my knee's)
But in built up area's the drink is between the legs, 1 hand drives and 1 holds the burger..

As far as legalities, i'm pretty sure theres no rule against sensibly eating and driving, just like smoking and driving the car. Its allowed but if your swervin all over the shop then you can get done for neg driving still.
