Rail woes blamed on poor servicing
This is getting stupid.
Trying to get to and from work is like playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun. Guaranteed to fail!
I love on their website how they point out that the air con units on their trains are not designed to work in temperatures above 35 degree's...
LOL!! WTF!! Well which retard decided to use these units on trains in australia?!?
An ok... fair enough... so whats the excuse for the 25 million faulty trains on days that are mild?
Its hot, trains don't run... its cold, trains don't run... its wet, trains don't run... what weather conditions are needed for the trains to run?
And all those people who go "Well its public transport... if you don't like it, drive to work..." they're are probably the same monkeys that tell those people who drive to work they should catch a train to save the world from global warming... WTF!!!
I buy a bloody ticket... I pay for a service... and I get nothing...
I'm not buy a ticket in the hope that at some point before the next full moon i will make it home. I buy a ticket with the expectation that the train I want to catch in their timetable will run as indicated... not 5 years late.
Maybe connex should simply get rid of all their timetables... and just run the trains randomly why throwing darts at a map... surely the services would be more reliable then.... PLUS, as an added bonus... all the money they spend on designing, printing and implementing *cough* bull sht *cough* these timetables, could go into keeping their trains running... maybe they can buy little air conditioning units for the aircon units on their trains... then the passenger air con will be kept as its ideal working temperature (god knows wtf that is tough)... and the trains will run and everyone will be happy... other than the monkeys who I mentioned before, who will now be complaining that there are now too many air con units on the train, which causes more global warming and thus a some stoned koala will drop out of a tree unless I clap my hands 5 times and say "I do believe in fairies"!!!!!!!
Those ads they had on TV with the guy on the rid on mower pulling the carts with people in them to work... and they the train goes past and connex has their little "ha ha ha... thats silly... trains are better" spiel...
Yeah, what they didn't show was that the moment the camera was turned off that trains air con failed, causing the driver to pass out and crash into an orphanage for 3 turtles!!
And now they are telling me that they want to increase prices on their tickets... WHY?!?
Because they are going to implement that new card thing that they are so confident in they are trialing it in geelong?!? yeah real promising!!! (No offence to geelongiens)... but it will just be another thing that can go wrong... not atleast I can get to the platform without and issue... once im there thats when things fall to crp.
Now I will be stuck at the gates into the station trying the swipe my card... the aircon will fail and my head will explode...
GRRRR!!!!
Thats my rant for the day...
Thanks for listening

Relax,
QR/Translink up here in Brisbane are not much better either.
The express train I catch takes the exact amount of time to reach Central as the all stops train.
The trains we get are shitty, old, covered in scratched in aboriginal flags on the windows. Plus they are overcrowded and there seems to be an abundance of fat arse slobs who take up two seats that catch my train.
I hate public transport, but thanks to Brisbane's woefully inadequate roads, I have no choice if I want to get to work in time.
And another thing, I live in a really good area, no bogans or scum anywhere, yet I'm forced to catch the Ipswich train as thats the only line that services the western suburbs (up here the western suburbs are upper class, not like the typical sydney westie connotation). You should see the units that are on that train!
Same with the new Trams in Adelaide. The A/C units pack it in after 30 Deg or something like that - anyway the first hot day - trams are packed and no A/C.
Complete fail in the contract tender process - how could it be missed. Like it hits 40 in most places around Australia at some point during summer. Silly silly people getting paid far too much that purchase these multi million dollar items.
Thats where ur going wrong... buying the ticket. **** buying the ticket. If u do get pinged by the "train" police, tell them to jam it, and then take it to court, coz im sure thee is more than just u, that wouldnt get the ticket, and would contest it.
But yeah it is a big **** arse joke. Listening to the radio before, and they start saying which trains are cancelled..... and what did connex do the other day... gave people ice-cream... yeah thats guna make it all better.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
Its just really annoying because I can't organis client meetins in the morning at work incase I don't make it... and in the evening I can't book dinner or a chiropracter apointment because god knows when I MIGHT make it home.
Not too fussed about the sticky buggers and fat people...
being 6 foot 4, a touch over 90kg and having a shaved head... not many people sit opposite me nor next to me... lol
Plus the fact I won't really fit the the seats all that great...
But its just annoying... basically... during the week i can't actually have a life after work... and I'm lucky my chiropracter doesn't charge me for the visits I miss without giving 24 hours notice...
I book the latest appointment... which is 6.30 pm... and I leave work at 4pm those days... and I still miss that appointment sometimes.
Plus clients... organising a meeting for 10am say with Origin or Telstra... and not making it is not a great thing... Keeping im mind i noramlly aim to be at work by 8am...
Also another annoyance I have with them...
2 frankston trains right...
One is at 5.01 and its all stations or something... then a 5.14 which is double express..
So I let the 5.01 go and wait for the 5.14... The doors on the 5.01 close and the train is leaving when the announcement that the 5.14 is faulty and will not be running comes on at this exact moment...
30 seconds earlier would have been GREAT!
But yeah... primarily my issue is that their excuse for trains not running most the time is that the air con units can't work in temperatures over 35...
I think that sums up connex nicely... stupid.
And im not having a goo at the drivers or the station staff... because i know they are doing their job and they can't help it the company they work for is as organised as my sock draw.
Thats why is also annoying to see some people having a go at these people because they are not the ones who should cope it.
Our Central station doesn't even seem to have aircon! What a bloody top idea in the humidity up here.
Just before Christmas, it was a 35 degree day with skyhigh humidity. Everyone piles into the train to go home and suddenly Central loses power. So we sit there for a good 10 minutes. No aircon, people packed in like sardines, people getting the shits and buzzing the driver on the emergency phone.
And when the train finally gets going, we cop a red light at Roma St and had to sit there for another 5 minutes.
Travelling on the train is bad enough, and even sometimes just getting to the trainstation can be a issue. I have to drive along Mt Crosby road and get onto the Warrego Highway to reach my station, Dinmore (or Dingymore as I reckon it should be called). Its a 15 minute trip. Yet this morning the stupid idiots running the roadworks along the Ipswich motorway decided to do some work this morning, banking up the motoway to the Bremer River. Lucky my girlfriend rang me this morning because she heard it on the radio. In other cases, my 15 minute drive to the train station has taken up to an hour.
The people running this state are ****wits.
Blame that bloody stupid whats ya call her minister? lol
Herald Sun rant on and on about her being a failure
Yeah... I think the public transport system has falled into a resonsibility balck hole...
No one is willing to step up, admit they f'ed up and do something about it.
And so long as it stays like this... it will never get any better.
lol... you think connex is bad(which it is).... try taking a v-line train... no wait... try taking a v-line then matching it to a connex train.
Its like watching a dog **** its own ear.
aZk.
Connex and the government are both to blame. The entire system is in shambles.

Ti's all bollocks.
I remember before my work moved down to Eight Mile Plains, I had to get in to fortitude valley each day for work. Originally, the timetable meant 1 train from Cleveland - Bowen Hills, I was getting off at Brunswick St (fortitude valley).
THEN, they changed it. For the next 6 months, I had to catch a train from cleveland half an hour earlier, then catch another train after a 20 minute wait at central. Why? Because they thought it would be a good idea to have all the ****ing trains not stop at brunswick street except for ONE per hour.
In that MX rail newspaper they had, they claimed that brunswick street, in the morning, is second only to Central in terms of how busy it is. HOW QR justified stopping services to brunswick st I have no idea.
I actually had a photo of the next 6 trains on the time board; 6 of them going to bowen hills. Every single ****ing one of them was skipping brunswick street. By the way for those who don't know, the track goes Central - Brunswick St - Bowen Hills. So all they did was to cut out ONE station, which happened to be the second-busiest one in the morning. ****ING BRILLIANT. Even then, the timetable was even SLOWER than it was with brunswick street to begin with!
Damn QR... So glad I don't have to deal with their bullshit anymore.
Yeah i was thinking the same thing. I used the v/line service to get to and from tafe each day last year. I use to leave TAFE at 4 on the bus to morwell, catch a train to Traralgon at 5:30, then catch a bus to Sale (via heyfied, maffra etc) at 6:15, talk about a pain in the ass, I didnt get home till after 7:30 WHEN it ran on time. Then they updated the timetable and added more services in this great big plan, so im stoked to see the new time table, to find out they have removed two services, and not added any new ones. So then I had to find someone to pick me up from traralgon EVERY night, and half the time I couldnt even get to traralgon to 8 at night because the train from Moe was always delayed. V/LINE![]()
Oh yeah Ive done this before. Make sure you take a packed lunch and some water.
In all fairness, minux is right, its not completely connex's fault (I think Hell just froze over). Theyre working with 20 year old equipment. Weve been having 35+ days for the last century, you would think some bright spark would realise that for 3 months of the year (more like half a month in Melbourne's case) Australia enters a season called summer and it gets hot.
What was their excuse Sunday? I dont even think it went over 30 degrees and once again the public transport system went into shutdown.
Melbourne, the city that plunges into utter chaos if a lane on the Monash is blocked or if its a 30+ degree day.
^^^ But the old as the pyramids trains run without issues... they are more reliable than the "new" trains connex runs.
I would be happier getting home hot and sweaty after riding on the non aircon ones with just the windows down rather than getting some an hour late.
Its all to do with the fact that the longer you keep me from my after work beer... then more grumpy i will get...
The longer I wait for it... the more grumpy I get...
THUS...
In light of this... I think if a train is running late... connex should supply free beers to the people who are stranded.
Then people wouldn't be so grumpy...![]()
free icy poles. Stop complaining.
(on a serious note i feel connex users' pain).
I think its time the goverment are made accountable. yes the problem lyes with connex but the goverment is at the end of the day in charge.
I feel for all you guys that have no choice but to use public transport. but the one thing no one is thinking about is the add on effect. Since the hot weather has started and public transport has failed, the roads are getting much more jam packed. I drive all over melbourne everyday and i have noticed more and more traffic.
i am under the impression that public transport user are now turning back to using there cars
Just wait til school goes back. Public transport AND the roads will be packed once again. It was good over the christmas school break when I was going into the valley, bugger all people, and a hell of a lot quieter. When I was in school I was never as much of an arrogant **** as those ****ers were.
Maybe coz I went to a private school? *looks down nose and adjusts monacle*
Actually its the older trains we've had for 20+ years that have AC issues not the new ones.
Thing is they've been dealing with the AC issues for 20 years ... why is it such a big problem now?
Oh and ironically enough they where built in australia :P
A/C doesn't work so they pull the train?!
Once upon a time they had these things called "windows" which did well enough. Sad we seem to have lost this technology...
It's a problem now become people are growing up to be entitlement whores. And there's more people using public transport than there was 20 years ago.
Probably removed in an attempt to stop people throwing shit from the trains. I know they used to have trouble up here with kids throwing rocks out the windows at train stations they weren't stopping at.
Besides. Windows would mess up the perfect businesswoman's hair![]()
