    Default Auto Elec Apprenticeship (VIC)

Hey people, have been giving it some "deep" thought, and I've decided to look at getting an appreticeship as an auto electrician.

Just wondering if anyone has any "advice" on where I could go...

I was advised to go to "maverick auto electrical" (in diamond creek) but they are not currently taking on any apprenticeships.

So yeah, just wanting to know of some good places (preferably around the cambellfield area, but I am willing to travel if it's worth it...)

    Thanks in advance..

And any other advice would be good (from people who have been there and done that, what they look for, what I should do/say, stuff like that)

Just email a shitload of auto elecs with your resume. Won't hurt and generally you will find a job easier that way. Don't rely on the paper, internet or job agency, they are useless.

I know that much...I just don't know "which" ones to go to...like all places, there are the ones you want to work at, and the ones you don't...I don't wanna be in some dirty looking shed being taught by some family, I want to be at a decent shop...

dunno about places to work as im from sydney,
i just finished my auto elec apprenticeship in dec last year, and all u can say is get a job at a big company, all the guys at tafe that where is the smaller "shop" type businesses where generally on crap pay, forced to work stupid hours, and in general where the shit kickers,(had to clean toilets etc)

where as my self and a couple of other boys, worked for the bigger companies,(ETT, CAT, NSWFB, Toyota fork lifts) etc had better pay and easier hours with the option of over time(not forced) did not have to clean toilets and kitchens and empty bins(we have cleaners).

down side to this you have a more focused line of work, where as the boys in the shops had new things every day.

That's alother reason why I'm asking for places, the one i was told to go to has good reputation and always has apprentices coming and going...
