Angry How F'd up to you have to be?

This really makes my blood boil, these psychotic little turds being passed of as excuses for human beings, running around at the height of bushfire season intentionally lighting fires. Every year there are a handful of these stories. One of them was a volunteer firefighter! WTF?!

Arson charges over Sydney bushfires - National - smh.com.au

Former fire fighter charged with lighting fires - National - smh.com.au

Man arrested for lighting bushfires in western NSW - National - www.smh.com.au

There are tons of these stories.

I have close friends and family living right next to national parks, and myself am not far from one.

What the **** are people thinking doing this? What is the attraction? Do they get a thrill out of destroying peoples homes and property, or even killing them? It's times like this I wonder if capital punishment wouldn't be such a bad thing.

    Someone please explain!

    (end of rant)

Where have you been living almost all the DSE firefighters are firebugs that's why they do what they do and they start most of the bushfires too, especaily on the weekends when the pay is good. It's why the Army is half made up of mentally disturbed gun freaks, it's why the Church has some dodgy Preists. Thats the way it goes

Were they intentionally lit to destroy shit, or were they just some pyros playing with fire?

I know a few people who have a certain fascination with fire.. Stupid thing to do, lighting it anywhere other than a controlled environment, and even then it's dangerous, the stuff they do it with..

I don't know if they were intentionally lit to destroy stuff, or if they were lit because they like fire and just lost control of it. Not defending their actions, just want to know the circumstances. I don't know if it's written in those links, all 3 of them are dead for me at the moment.

and its not something you can stop either.... cant exactly ask every person on earth who is thinking about starting a bushfire why they are carrying a light or matches, cos of course they are gonna lie about going to start a bushfire so they dont get caught.

there was a lady in the adelaide hills who lit 20+ fires in a few weeks over xmas a few years ago. she got caught and was found mentally ill if i remember correctly

if someone could search what happened to her with punishment, would be interesting to see what punishment she got

mental illness? It wouldn't be more than an asylum period, no actual 'punishment'.

That's the story you're referring to. She has not been sentenced yet.

That's like saying an ambo would go around stabbing people so he can have more work to do. Surely there are enough genuine bushfires to keep you busy, if you are going to be a ****tard at least do it in winter ffs!

Hmmm... well lets have a think, you light a fire in the middle of summer in dry bushland? What do you expect will happen?!! Anyone should know better, but firefighters have NO excuse!

These aren't a case of a barbeque gone wrong, these are intentionally lit fires.

Again. I haven't argued against anything you've said. All I wanted to know was, were these stupid people playing with fire in the wrong place, or were they intending to burn down houses by their actions?

Sorry, not having a go at you, just get shitty thinking about these people.

I don't know if they do it with the goal of burning houses down, killing people or whatever, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to realise that's a very likely consequence of doing it.

Yeah true.. That being said, it's quite likely that the people who are going to play with fire, probably don't consider the consequences to themselves, let alone anybody else.

For all we know they could have been dopey enough to think "Where is nobody else going to see me burn stuff?" and gone to a dry bushland area, completely missing what could happen. I know someone who has done that.. Dopey sod. Fortunately he managed to put the fire out before it got serious.

If there was more controlled bruning during winter there wouldnt be such a massive issue withy bushfires in summer (be them arson or not) we live in a dry country. Prevention is more effective than cure.

By the way arsonist should be set on fire themselves as punishment see how they like it

The problem with that is the cost...The government wouldn't fund it because they wouldn't believe it was necessary...Which any person with a brain can work out that come summer people ARE doing shit like this...So rather that spending the money THEN it SHOULD be spent to prevent it...But that would never happen
