animal cruelty happens on so many levels though. i bet there are a number of members here who have a dog, of any size, on a property of less than an acre. Most house blocks now are barely half an acre. I bet they don't make the time to give their dog a 30 min walk a day either.

I reckon anyone in town with a dog in their yard is committing an act of cruelty. our neighbour has 3 and he's pretty close to losing them all.

yeah we live in a block of 4 units which enclose a shared yard that's 4 metres by 10 metres so i guess 40 square. lady in one of the units has a jack russell and a big thing, maybe a mastif or similar.
afaik got them without any permission of the rest of the tennants too, but what can you do? we're just renting and she owns hers and she's chummy with our landlords to boot.

I think there are way too many cases of animal cruelty and the laws are no where near tough enough. If anything offenders get a slap on the wrist.

I have a dog from the RSPCA. The previous owner was a teenage boy who wanted her as a 'tough' dog (Mastiff x Staffy) and when he realised she wasn't, left her in the backyard. His parents took her to the RSPCA when she was only 6 months old.
She was skinny and hard to re home due to her lack of training and socialisation.
Luckily I was able to see through that and was able to give her the home she deserved. I have had her for 5 months now which is the amount of time she was at the pound for
She is up to level 3 obedience, socialised both with dogs and people and is an absolutely perfect pet. I cannot begin to understand how someone couldn't want her, especially as a pup!

Because some people see pets as toys, not animals.

I'm glad at least yours has moved on to a better life

I doubt the cats would be overly worried about that.

Defiantly worse things to do to an animal. Such as killing cats, purely because you don't like them
I remember a couple of years ago two teenage boys where caught on camera kicking and belting kittens to death.
This kind of people should be beaten senseless and locked up for 10-15yrs.

    thats fkn disgusting.
its like them people who put kittens in a trash bag or box and put it in the middle of the road for cars to run over them.
we should put them in a trash bag and run over them, see how they feel.
