Just stumbled across this.
I thought it was interesting.
A reminder to all of us that driving should not be taken lightly...
I think the fact the locations are displayed makes these events more real.
Google Maps
I dunno, I found this interesting...
I know after reading some of the descriptions for these events they might make me think twice about taking unnecessary risks on the road.
Mate, people do not care, if they did our road toll would be next to nothing. Having seen so many stupid deaths reported in the news, it's high time they develop an attention span and concentration test, it is killing too many people.

Pretty interesting info there Jester, good for a browse.
Completely argee with you Minux.
I think that with the current regulations its too easy to get a license and too easy to keep it.
People just take it for granted.
The testing to get a license should cover alot more than just "Can you find the rear demister and indicator" and should include concentration and reaction tests plus something to identify if you acutally have the mental capacity to handle a vehicle... same as the test to get into the police force or what not.
Then there should be retesting... if only because of the fact that rules and regulations change with time and i've got the grandpa next to me driving thinking the rules from 1500AD are still current.
puts a new perspecvive on it, that's for sure.
not just figures, but actual descriptions of the accidents makes it hit a bit harder.
also some of the interest is not just in where/when there were accidents, but also where there haven't been any. like no fatalities on the eastern at all last year!?
well that killed the government holiday road stats.
Research has shown that men usually sleep on the right side of the bed.
Even in our sleep we happen to be right.

I dont know how it goes in other states. But here in SA we have a hazard perception test that is required after a year on your P's and like 50 hours of driving experience to even be eligible to sit for your P's test. But thats it, after all that your home free until your 85 and you sideswipe a few cars on the side of the road or even hurt someone. Its ridiculous. Driving a car is not like riding a bike. People forget simple shit, and the consequences can be fatal. I myself dont think i would pass my P's test if i re-did it right now.
Re testing every couple of years is something that should, but probably wont, happen.
Cheers for that. Interesting.
In vic your supposed to have 120 hours and there is a crppy video perception test... the only problem is the screens i had it on where so bad... i didn't know if the black thing on the road was a shadow, a pole hole, a bear? lol
Juding some of the knucle draggers that have car licenses... I think I'm being accurate.
They made it hard by adding questions based on statistics to the Learners test.
They need to make it harder in the physicall test.
^^^ Yeah... agree
On paper Stephen Hawking is a genius... an un rivaled mind... but ask him to wipe his ass and its not going to happen.
Same applies to the driving test... just because you get all the answers right doesn't mean your going to be a good OR safe driver.
^^ True, the P2 and unrestricted tests in NSW is nothing more than a revenue stream. Passing them says little to nothing about your driving ability.
There is a foolproof (literally) method of passing the P2 HPT, one which never fails, and I'm sure the RTA are aware of how ineffective this test is, but yet they still charge $200 or whatever it is for people to take it. The unrestricted HPT is much the same.
Well I did get all the answers right and I am a good and very safe driver so:
YouTube - Hot Fuzz - Simon Pegg - Jog on!
I never said you weren't a good or safe driver...
I said that just because someone passes the test doesn't mean they are actually good at driving...
Don't get your panties in a twist sweetheart.
*sigh* we let you off moderated posts and yet you continue to make stupid comments like this. Can add you back to moderated posts if you like?
It is hardly hard to get a license, even harder to lose the bloody thing. You dont need to be a good driver to pass basic driving exams.

^^^ Refer to my previous post... untwist your panties... and stop taking things personally.
I'm not actually arguing iwth anyone UNLESS they they have the view that if you pass the test, it makes you a good driver.
So unless that what someone is saying... I'm not arguing with anyone am I?
I'm giving my point of view.
Are you kidding?
Drive properly, you* won't lose your licence. Simple. If you* lose it, it's because you* screwed up.
*Note: The term you does not refer to Hardstylin himself or any person in particular. It is used in the context of referring to any person who loses their licence.
He didn't say the majority. He said some.
I think the point is more that the current Australian licencing structure could be vastly improved, yet it fails to happen. Re-testing in certain circumstances and better testing and education to begin with would go a long way to getting poor drivers off the roads, or better yet, stopping them from getting on them to begin with.
