I have to agree with minux on this (there's a scary thought) if they are of middle eastern decent there is no doubt in my mind they will not be brought to trial, and again we'll be back to the "deport all from certain countries and refuse to take more" stand we had not long back, which i agree with entirely, but it's pointless to mention.
as for "creating controversy" over people of a certain ethnicity, why would the news-hounds feel the need to stir the pot unless they themselves want to see these groups sent home?

I didnt say anything about middle easterners, simply said like every other criminal nothing will happen. They should all be treated the same. If a dog bites someone we put them down, surely if people steal, rape, kill etc we can do the same?

I'll just quickly point out skitz you mention the shooter was of middle eastern appearance, yet the article mealy says a man of that description was in the car. Why do they have to point out his appearance because he was in the car? How come it doesn't say a man of Caucasian appearance was in the car?

This article does have some discrepancies, on a news bulletin several eye witnesess claim the shooter was of Middle Eastern appearance.
For all I know the car was probably full of people identical in appearance.

Bring back death penalty. Bring back harsh punishment for small crimes. We need to get fear back into the jsutice system. You can rape or murder these days and get a small fine and no jail.

Why do we need to know that the victim was a religious man? Does that make the crime any worse? If he was shot whilst out of his car suggests he was being aggressive. Could he have been shot while attempting to harm the three in the car?

I think the law really does need to be changed so we can get these sorts of people off the streets for good. I would like to see the death penalty brought back in for people like drug dealers, murderers and rapists. It must be really hard on our police at the moment, when they risk their lives capturing these crims only to see a judge let them off with a slap on the wrist. I remember hearing about a pshyco down here that found out where a police officer lived after he had been booked for assault by the officer and then let off by the judge. The pshyco knocked on the officers door and said remember me, if you book me again i will kill you. Luckily the next judge decided to put him in jail.

Not sure how that equates to a Nanny state. There won't be any more rules, just harsher penalties for cowardly acts and more enforcement of them. It already exists but does not get enforced and penalised as much as it should.
