From the two that I have been to in Adelaide they were judged (I believe) on the showmanship of the driver. E.g. smoke, whether they blew tyres etc.

There are also classes, 4, 6, 8 and depending on the size of the classes each could have a forced induction sub class.

    That's about all I know.

at kandos on the weekend they had naturally and force aspirated categories.
    they jugded like steery said.
i think the cars had to registered or have a permit and i think they had to have a tailshaft loop.

the burnout competitions at avalon raceway here are judged much the same way. except i think they also judge on how well the pad is used.

car doesnt need to be rego'd/rwc to enter (should see the amount of vn's that enter haha).

We've entered in a local one, and scored 3rd place in the 6 cylinders. And that was in a VH wagz with a crusty 202 trimatic, with a welded diff and ground down spline on the passenger axle. Did sick one wheeler peelers haha. I still remember standing out on the pad with all other entrants when they called my name for winning 3rd, we obviously weren't expecting it at all lol.

    Here's a vid.

We didn't really put on a good show so not sure wat the judges liked....we pretty much just cruised around in a circle in 2nd and 3rd lol. But I guess the smoke is wat done it, coz I rekon at the start of the day we were the ones which had the most smoke on the cold pad. Everything else was smoking a bit, but the wagz just kept smoking from the start of the day till the end.

Yep, I'm the fatty, no need for u smart asses to chuck in all ur fat jokes.

Ah, yes. I forgot pad use. You also are not allowed to come to a complete standstill.

That rule was at the comp we went to as well....and that's the reason we ended up going a single spinner, coz we had to sit on the spot to get the revs up first. The weekend b4 the comp, we tried it out on the pad, took off into the middle of the pad, then full locked it and gave it shit, but the ol' 202 just wouldn't pick the revs up. So we took it home, and come back the next week to the burnout comp with a single spinner......then saw heaps of other cars staying stationary for a few seconds and 99% were allowed to....ya get that I suppose. Maybe that's another thing we had over other people, they all started on the spot, I just cruised out in 'Drive', applied some brake and crept along and just flattened it, straight into 2nd, then straight into top gear and just cruised around without stopping, just fried the tyre.

I had a suss at the tyres another lad was using, and his were pretty much bald to start with...ours were nearly full tread, and we killed more then him (he had a much bigger motor then us)....altho everytime the tread on the tyre let go (which was all burnouts we done except 1 or 2....done about 8 all up I think) they would flag us off.

Even got my little bro in the driver seat for one....he wasn't allowed to, but we look similar, so just swapped seats and they never knew lol.

You can sit there for a couple of seconds to get the burnout going. (well they allowed this with all the 4's and 6's, not the 8's) Once you have the rev's at an acceptable level you have to get moving.

The 6 that took out the last comp that I was at, **** that thing was a little monster. Ke20 Corolla with an off-its-tits supercharged ecotec. Soon as he got onto the pad he just monstered the throttle and the car was spinning everywhere. Not once was that car stationary.

    Helmet
    Long sleeves
Tailshaft loop is different depending on who is running it i spose, the pirie one and the local ones i went to both didn't need them
    Remove weights from tyres!

Not bothered about judging personally, i go for fun. My car is a daily, and not trailered in like the winners cars are
If you take the same approach, you'll have bucket loads of fun!

I don't really do anything different. Its very well maintained anyway, so there nothing i need to do for a comp!
