There is a reason why Commodore is number 1 since 1979. Its the best Aussie car. I loved my VL and I love my VE. I cant help it.
My wifes just ordered one of the new fiesta's because she's sick of driving my VP in the heat and she seems to like allways like to be in massive debtbut it's got all the modern luxurys 5 airbags electric windows allround all that kind of stuff, stability control, abs, traction, climate, blue tooth, blah blah etc even a usless voice recognition and a phone dialer pad on the soft touch dash for some extra bling for the girls that buy them. Plus a 5 star safety rating and made in Germany. Sure it's a cheap little car but it still makes 0-60mph in under ten seconds and 4.9l/100 on the highway with a weight of 1108?kgs. Not only that.... Clarkson put a Zerbras head in the boot of one, escaped a Corvette in a shopping centre followed up with a drive off a landing craft through the sea and up the beach
.
Finally one of us will have a sensible car (she had a Jeep before). Little cars like that are booming in sales now and it's easy to see why when you compare them to larger much more expensive cars
Greenfoam,
i went from a VL calais to a sensible choice corolla. i had that car for 10 years. it cost me about $2.00 in broken parts (a plasic door connection) cheap to run etc. but for 10 years i had no feeling for driving and wanting to be in a car. it was A to B transport and i didnt want to clean it and polish it like it did for my Calai. i didnt want to be seen in it.
now that i got back into a big aussie thumper again (poverty pack i know, but its still got THAT look and and feel), i aint going back. i polish it every 2 weeks and any excuse to go for a cruise i take it. its not just A - B transport to me. thats important.
its great to have these economical cars, especially these days as they throw so much extra stuff in em like your fiesta (great looking car as well!), but i would still want my big aussie thumper in the garage as well. you got the best of both worlds. good on ya.
