Hey guys, the missus owns a 1985 Nissan Pulsar, 1.8litre 4 banger carby engine. I was wondering, how much oil will the sump hold? And should i use a 15 weight or 10 weight oil in it?
Not 100% familliar with Jap spec motors.....
Any help would be appreciated, thanks heaps guys!![]()
Dont know the exact capacity but prob around 2-3 litres.
In a car that old, i would use 20W/50 or 25W/60. 10W is too thin but most likely u could get away with 15W.
The Blue One
Definitely go the thick mineral oil, like PaulSV6 said use a 20W/50.
I'd buy a 5L bottle, will be plenty. My old '85 1.6L Corolla would take about 4L including the filter, but just put half the bottle in, wait a couple min, check dipstick, repeat till full, start engine, wait few mins, stop engine, wait few mins, check dipstick again, top up if needed. Easy.
Jap motors aren't fundamentally any different to any other motor.
3.3l to be exact![]()
for the small 4 cylinders you put in 3 litres, start the motor for a second, stop it, then check the dipstick a minute later and top it up as usual
Awesome, thanks heaps guys, exactly the answers i was after
I already serviced it but wasn't sure how much oil it would take, but in just over half of the 5 litres and used a 15w60 i think it was. Might use a 20w next time.
Thanks again!
