These are some really bad fires happening atm
Victoria bushfires: man injured, homes destroyed
I live in the town of pakenham and the whole sky is covered in smoke from the bunyip fire, its a really erie feeling knowing that these fires are only like 2 towns away from you
Yer I'm in FTG and the sky wasn't to bad but it was grey as 12 trucks where put out for the fires in the quarry I believe, crazy stuff
At least the cool change has come through hopefully that'l help the Fire Fighters, Good on them Btw
I was going to Nhill today (west of Horsham) and they had the highway blocked off. Houses, golf club and a fire truck lost just south of Horsham.
I don't remember a worse day for fires, in this heat with that wind.
Good luck to all the fireys that will be in for a big night

I can remember ash Wednesday much much worse. But it's been one of the big ones today that's for sure. No fires or high heat here in the Deep South West we caught the tail of the Cyclone in WA in the early hours of the morning and it's not been over 30 all day (had some wind and lightning and rain at about 4am but that was all)
Cheers foam. Pic was taken from Mt Donna Buang lookout tower. 70-odd k's east of melbourne.
heres a picture Looking towards nar nar goon way

pretty clear skys :P had some rip snorters in perth over the last few years i would be buying bulk marshmellows, try getting the best out of a fruitless experience
It was hard to tell on my drive today what was smoke and what was dust, but it certainly made for a stressful trip.
To everyone else on the road: Turn on your damn headlights when there is low visibility!!

fire went straight through our property, or my parents propery I should say.
By the time I found out it was too late to get my ass down there, everything was blocked, luckily the whole street is on on a Fire saftey plan, over a year of good preperation ensured the fire burned around everey house on our street.
Plenty of water tanks and diesal pumps going :P hours upon hours of clearing the scrub and good communication among many other things.
My mate called me and said he was in my home town and a fire was on its way through, I called dad to give him the heads up and he said they had a suspected it might be as the other side of the mountain we live on had smoke billowing out and a glow as well, straight after I got off the phone he told me later the fire erupted over the hill and the street went into action.
Worst time ive ever had in my life, not knowing if my parents were ok, I actually cried when I heard my dads voice telling me everyone was ok, broke a 9 year drought.
Everyone should be happy with the CFA though, top people and a bloody brave lot at that.
Yeah my sister and my aunty and uncle were on standby (still are) up north near Kilmore. Know a few friends of friends that lost their houses.
Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
Joined up to the CFA today, training starts soonish, getting all geared up and trained up for next year. Wish i had of done it last year then i'd be up there helping all the MFB and CFA right now, i feel ****ing useless sitting here doing nothing.
Was helping at my missus's house today, her house is where the Narre Warren North / Harkaway fires are, her neighbours body hair was singed from helping out, we drove around making sure people were ok and keeping eyes out for embers causing spot fires. All the hills around here are glowing red and all you can smell is smoke. Fires near my house too.
Can't do much as the CFA and MFB won't let us, i'd be willing to throw my life on the line to help right now, but they won't let me due to lack of skill and training, so my mate and i filled out our forms and handed them in to the local CFA to start training.
Reports on ch 7 are that 14 confirmed deaths from the fires today.
Thanks mate, it makes me feel sick knowing this is happening and i can't help properley, so the only way i can help properley is to join them.
I'm about to go for a drive, i can't sleep and see if people around here in Narre are ok. The missus is asleep, i'd rather go by myself. Then i'm gonna shoot back to Ferntree Gully and make sure my house is fine then head back to Narre.
It's ****ed!! Some possibly caused by arsonistsGoddammit it makes me angry. ****ing gutless ****ing asshole ****s
Playing with peoples lives and property because they get off on fires / fighting fires

3 cheers for the CFA where would we be without them, and for those arsonists forget about our courts instead lets put them in one of those fire buckets slung underneath the helicopters and drop them in the seat of the fire.I bet we will see a remarkable drop in arson when they know what will happen to them if they decide to light a fire.
What an dreadful situation, so many lifes lost already. Stay safe guys, houses can be rebuilt its not worth your life. Thank god for those brave volunteer firefighters.
Was coming back from Sydney last night, had thick smoke from about 200kms out of Melb (this was at about 2am) could hardly see a thing, then the Hume was closed for a good stretch too. Not good. Thoughts go out to everyone that's been affected.
Victorian heat's gone to NSW, hopefully it's not as bad today as it is here now
