I've NEVER heard of it ruining a photo. Not sure how high of quality if at all it would need to be to do damage. I scan all my photos at 24,000 DPI then reduce the quality digitally as I find it gets the best scan, but I've never done any damage to a photo.
If its possible to do damage, then im really interested as ive never heard of it before.

I wouldn't think so.. It's being bombarded with light, so maybe if it's certain types of paper it can have an effect on the chemicals in the paper... As far as I know though, even the old nitrate emulsion photos don't suffer from it.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

That being said, and I'm not sure what sort of lamp is used here so it could be completely irrelevant, with light comes heat. If the scanner emits enough heat your photos can face, curl on the edges, crack, and the chemicals can react. That wouldn't happen unless you had a hell of a lot of heat though

or 400ppi if you go Lambda output, under A2, over A2 drop it to 200ppi.
