hey guys.
im in the process at looking for a new car. its either going to be a vr/s stato/caprice.
i have been looking at some with the super 6 motor. and some with a 5 litre.
i need help on deciding which one to go with.
in terms of
Performance
reliability
Power upgrades.
which will i be better off with. any opinions welcomed.

stock standard there pretty much on par with one another performance wise, the s/c v6 is better for quick upgrades as you can simply change the injectors, pulley and memcal tune but revs alot harder than a v8 meaning one with higher km/s will be worn out more than the 5 litre with the same amount of kays. with the heavier stato i would go v8. drove a vs stato s/c v6 and a vx s/c v6, the heavier body wasnt well suited to the v6 and felt a bit hows your father, went alright but had to plant the foot to go quick
5 litre
If u geta 6, ppl will give u shit.
What exactly do u want out of the car?
Performance : My barge goes alright. Gets from a-b, its got some go in it. Its more of a cruiser than a race car like some other cars out there.
reliability Mine has been well looked after. I service it. Nothing has broken and ive had it for about 18months.
Power upgrades the usual, extractors, exhaust and so on.
As i said, what do u want out of the car?
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
minux im not worried about the sound of the motor.
main thing being power. like if i spend 5k on both motors. which one will yeild the best results.
also does anyone know about the gearbox?
im guessing they would both run the same box. but if the l67 runs the v6 gearbox it wont last very long
depends on how you spend each 5 grand, i could put a DIY supercharger kit on my 5 litre and blow a s/c v6 running the same amount of boost
For 3k you could comfortably have the V8 laying down over 200 na rwkw at the treads, and still have big sacks of torque down low. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't want it that way![]()
The L67 is a good motor, but the superchargers can get a little harsh on the pocket book when things start to break later in life.

Car for car money for money the super 6 will be faster (but it's rubbish, mostly because it sounds horrid). I wouldn't buy one but if your only goal is making the most power for the cheapest the super 6 has a *slight* advantage
go the 5 litre .. has more going for it in my opinion and with a few upgrades goes alright.
and will probably be a little bit more reliable and abit better to move the stato around with
wrecking VL COMMODORE 5 speed
FOR SALE : supra 5 speed box suite holden v8 $800
Having a 5L, i'd say got the L67. More torque in stock form, and a simple pulley change and afew other mods have them eating modded 5Ls.
Sounds is the only reason to choose a 5L over a L67

Like Stealthy says, whack on a smaller pulley and straight away you can have an extra 40% boost for a couple hundred. You wouldn't get the same gains on an N/A engine for such little money.
Agree with Stealthy....For power with minimal money outlay the L67 is the go.
Yeh, a 5 litre sounds great but who wants sound without the power to back it up? Thats also coming from a person with 2 5litres, but both are only cruisers....

Hell, i love my 5 litres and am a huge fan of them, but bang for buck L67 all the way...
Holden V6 are pretty junky and sound shit. No way in hell I would own a 6 cylinder commodore besides the VL. V8 dude.

Nahh N/As dont sound very great but still a N/A VL sounds better then any v6. And a VLT... spool, flutter, dose, screamer...
A dose and screamer all in one
