Bloody young blokes in what is basically a stocko exec. Might have zorst couple of other bolt-ons but nothing significant, their eagerness to race from the lights whenever I pull up to 'em in the ss is mystifying. Been going on since I've had the car and even my mate who rides a gsxr 1000 has people trying to race him. Like wtf!

When I was on my p's there was no way in hell I would be looking to race the v8 next to me. Firstly out of respect and secondly from fear of shame when they go past like I've stopped if they decide to put me in my place.

Question is, why do people do it? I can only think of them wanting to hear it going hard but other than I'm beat.

yeah tom same thing happens to me aye, i pull up at lights it turns green i take off normally and you get some douche in a v8 flooring it past you, i really dont get the point of it, lately tho its just been ppl in stock 6's and 4's of non holden n ford types so not sure what ppl are thinking

hahaha i was coming how from work today & there is 3 lanes at a set of lights i was in the far left lane some random thing in the middle & a turbo R33 skyline in the far right lane. now the speed limit is 70 but my lane ended pretty quick so i shot off to get in front of this other car and the skyline had seen me b4 the lights went green & must have thought i was trying to race ha ha ha stupid skyline so i took it up to 70 & off the accelerator cause sometimes a cop also sit at the bottom of the hill but yeah to the point my car has the lowered look & 18" but its a stock motor & only has the exhaust system so yeah as people have said no point racing but this skyline was screaming it little motor & turbo out he was really going for it ha ha ha. i still beat him to 70 :P

I find it funny that anyone would bother trying it on off the lights, grow some balls and take it to the track... There are lots of v8s there and I am sure if you want to see how you go they will be more than happy to give you a run down the quarter, plus for those who want to hear a v8 on full song entry is VERY cheap and well worth it if you like cars on full noise....atmosphere is great especially if you go with a few mates

O.T I find it good driving my current car as its not really all that aesthetically out there plus its not as recognizable as a skyline supra SS commodores etc.... Makes a nice change from every man and his dog trying to have a go in the Vx.... You still get the odd few but I just smile thinking that I don't have to prove the size of my......ego.....yes....ego..... by racing everyone with a modified car.

I used to have that issue a LOT when I had the VL, just about any commo/falcon/skyline that pulled up next to me at lights, and even some jap 4-bangers would try and take me on. Okay, an RB non turbo ain't much but towards the end of second was where it would start pulling away from them. Once I'd get the lead I'd tap the brakes and back off, but they would insist on pushing on WHILE I'm backing off. That was the part that got my nerves the most.

Then I got a wife in my life, so those habits were pushed aside. Funnily enough, now I have the VB, I don't get people trying to take me on as much. Sure it's only a 253, but it's rumble must turn them away..... Import people I guess.

its just a bit of fun i guess or there just wankers most likely wankers. i get the same thing when i display my L plates every one p plates or not try to race me and are always over taking me but when i don't display my l's none of this happens but i guess the majority of people are quite dumb so that probably explains it.

I had a VY 6 manual pull up next to me with a car load of drunk kids telling me to do burnouts. Took of normal they sped off to the next red light. "ahahahha you got smoked, do a burnout". Green light they speed off again. So i planted it snapped second and pulled away fast. (they had a full car). Thats the only time Ive street raced or had someone try race me.
