Do you like chicken, and about $10 an hour approx.
Hi all, Our 15 year old son has a job interview next friday at our local KFC, he was just wondering what to expect at interview and also the wage rates for a 15 year old? Thanks.
Heres a link to their enterprise agreement, it should cover wages and conditions etc.

Never worked at KFC but did work in fast food when was younger I imagine they would ask the usual, Why do you want to work here? Why should we hire you? type questions.
good work thanks very much
Has he done the test already? If not he'll have to do that. They'll ask him a few questions, for example "what would you do" questions. (ie: if a suspisious looking customer came in what would you do) And probably some money related questions.
Wage is about 7-8 bucks.
no, hasn't done the test yet has an interview next friday.
i worked at KFC full time when i was 17, which was about 8-9 years ago. my rate was $6.48 an hour. I was living independently and my 38 hour per week wage was not enough to cover my unit rent, bills, and food, which were bare essentials, so i had to work a second job 3 nights a week, umpiring indoor cricket just so i could eat. The special employee 10% or so discount from KFC food wasn't much consolation haha.
I hope the wages have improved somewhat since then! I'm sure it'd be a little bit better now.
It is his first job so anything is better than pocket money ATM. Hopefully he will learn the value of money when HE has to earn it?
Make sure when he goes for the intreveiw he speaks in broken english, cos thats the only type of people KFC seem to hire these days![]()

Alrighty time for my 2 years of KFC working to shine =P
When I first started I was on a measly 7.88$ @ the age of 16
Mind you, you are on a 6 bloody month probation or whatever they call it lol
Once thats over it got boosted and I use the word very lightly to 8.76 still @ 16y.o
So that'll give you an Idea of the rates.
In terms of what to expect mate, pretty much they might have a quick look over recent report if they asked for one to view, or they'll ask fairly basic work structure type questions, so tell him not to stress out.
I have one thing to say to him though, make it over the 6 month barrier and you'll be fine lol, first 1 to 3 months are pretty much hell =P.

yeah ive been working at hungry jacks for a while now and when ur 15 u get 8.04 an hour, ive heard kfc r a lot better.
Has he considered other jobs? Could allways apply for a trade assistant/general workshop/stores hand position if he's mechanically minded or an off sider in the building industry will get you into shape quick smart.
I used to know a guy who worked for HJ years ago,was allways good going in & getting more than you bargained for lol.
"If you're going through hell, keep going"
Seriously, at 15 he will be very lucky to be earning over $7.50 an hour. (At KFC)
Im currently casual at KFC on $17.09 ph
Not that this helps lol
I heard Maccas is like 3 bucks more ph
Maccas do pay higher, but they also give a lot less hours. I know a manager, their outlook on hours-to-employees is to employ tons and tons of people, way too many for what they need. That way they have 1/3 of them doing regular shifts, and the other 2/3 are there to be called if one of the regulars has to miss a shift for some reason.
I know a couple of people at the capalaba maccas, they got a 'payrise' of 9c/hour in return for losing 1 shift per week. Way to go team!
A 15 year old will be getting around the high 5$ mark especially with the 6 month probation.
ive worked at kfc, and have since moved to maccas and im now a maccas manager,
the best thing u can hear when the question " why do u want to work at kfc/ maccas" is " im after a part time job were i can save some money buy a car and the company has plenty of opertunities to move up pehaps in the future." as long as they are thinking of the future its these types of people they are looking for, they want people for the long haul coz it costs heaps to train people
It won't be quite that low. Low, yes, but not as low as $5. I'm at the age where within the last 2 or 3 years, most of my friends have worked at various fast food places, Hungry Jacks, KFC, Maccas and some fish and chip shops.
At 15yo at KFC, the general concensus on here sounds right going by the people I know; around $8/hr, give or take a few cents.

Well done to him for even getting an interview, my young bloke went online to apply,
Jesus Christ the application form is more like a home loan quiz, with a million questions.
Mate he only wanted a part time job cooking chicken, he wasn't going for CEO position
Hence he didnt get a call back.
Yeah the probation is where they get everyone. Going back a few years now my sisters were on 4.80 for Probation until they got caught out. Have also heard Maccas/KFC etc will have a heap of people on probation but not many make it past that, purely because there wages go up a few dollars.
Either way, let him do it, its experience and looks great on a resume when it shows you can slave your ass off for not much money.
this makes me want KFC. Maccas ftw coz then he can pick up a little teenie boppa chick and then will learn the value of money when she takes it all off him LMAO

My little brother worked at KFC, he was on $5.30 or something an hour at age 15. He brought home more moneys worth in free KFC chicken (when he worked afternoon night shift) than he did actual pay. But you gotta expect that working at fast food chains.
EDIT* This was about a year ago and he didnt see out probation period.

Yeah the 6 months is the hurdle to get over =P
The amount of free food I was going through and not to mention the rest of kfc, put us in debt haha.
But nowadays me thinks you gotta be smart about how you do it =P
So there are you answers mate,
Pay: $5~~
Fairly basic questions but tell him just to go with what POVRTY said
And he will defiantly learn the value of money working at kfc
