Default VE LE Calais - 6.7 litres!?!?!?

My mates dad has a VE Limited Edition Calais - V6 - and I think its supercharged.

So I'm not sure, but I think the VEs have the 3.6 don't they? And the supercharger dosn't increase this capacity either does it?

He insists that it is a 6.7 litre.......and that the owners manual says so.

Is there any such thing??? I've never heard of a VE with a 6.7 litre V6......

the VE calais comes with the out with a choice of the 3.6lt alloytec v6 or the 6lt L98 V8. As far as i know there is know the closest engine to 6.7lt holden make is the 6.9lt 427 from the W427 which is not available in any other configuration of car.

There is no standard factory supercharged VE 6's. If he has supercharge dit then it could very well have a 6.7 litre capacity due to the blower. Much like the falcon XR6T is a 6.7 litre(possibly 6.8?)

Capacity is decided by the Bore and stroke, not the inlet manifold or F/I capacity. The XR6T may use as much petrol as a 7lt but it does have a capacity of this. Just like the Supercharged ecotec was still a 3.8lt not a 5ltlt. Just like Stockies VN was still 3.8lt after he put his blower on it.
Volumetric capacity is unchanged, volumetric efficiency is effected

So if capacity is ONLY determined by bore and stroke why is the Xr6T banned in many racing classes for exceeding the 6.0 litre capacity?

Stretching of definitions? It's all petty semantics, boys. Stop that

    A 6.7L V6 sounds like a diesel truck engine

Only guys I've heard doing "factory fitted" blower options are CAPA, and then it was for the V8's...

Sounds a bit like your mates dad is full of it

Is it possible that he heard the term "L67" thrown around, and presumes it's a 6.7 litre motor? Even though it's not the L67?

like morton said, its stretching of definitions. Ian Weightman just built a 427 lsx with a 3.3lt whipple charger and nos. Then dropped it into a 300c. Its still only a 7lt not an 10lt.

The force fed 4.0-litre, six develops a hefty 270kW at 5250rpm and produces a whopping 533Nm from 2000 to 4750rpm, with over 75 per cent of that available from just off idle. It’s simply tremendous, has almost no lag to speak of and a low down pull that would shame most V8s. The mid-range surge is heaven sent and so strong that on a damp day XR6T breaks traction from second to third gear - even with the ESP left on! But lay off the loud pedal and it’s as placid as any regular Falcon, true Jekyll and Hyde type driving.

Haha, yeh, I thought that a blower wouldn't make a difference to the capacity.

Thanks guys, I reckon we have the answer now - L67 sounds like it. He reckons he's gonna bring the owners manual to school tomorrow to show me. So I can tell him he's a d!ckhead.

Oh yeah, and I want a BA XR6T.........they look tough and they go hard too. Wouldn't mind a one-tonner version either.

But now another question - minux said no VE's had a factory fitted Super 6.

Is this correct? Pretty sure my mate said it's supercharged. Haha.......

He said to me "oh yeah man, I drove it last night, what a ****ing beast!!!!!!!"

he is saying the l67 is the 3.8lt supercharged ecotec. The alloytec does hot have a supercharger option fro factory. Although the Calais does get the High Output 195kw engine

i think you will find that it is an L67 but not a VE.

Alloytec is the new standard V6 engine. Came out in the last of the VY's or just from the VZ's onwards.

They are like the Buick 3.8's, the Ecotec's etc. It went Buick V6, Ecotec V6 and now, Alloytec V6. Just a standard V6 now in Holden's.

ummm, i dont think it was coded, the L-codes are all chev engine codes. The Alloytec is an Au make, so i dont think it gets one

    Oh right.

Well I'm intrigued as to what the hell he was talking about then.........

As I think we've established that a FACTORY VE V6 6.7 litre is not possible...
