    Default GM - job losses

Just heard an announcment on the radio about 50,000 job losses (26,000) outside of USA) for GM.

For those that are involved with Holden's here, (or the companies that support holdens with components), i hope that you can avoid any bad news in the short or long term. If you are unfortunate enough to be caught up in this, then i hope that you can quickly find your feet...

There is a reason why Commodore is number 1 since 1979. Its the best Aussie car. I loved my VL and I love my VE. I cant help it.

I know people look and think, GM omg Holden is ****ed. But it's not really the case. Holden is very important to GM but to many world wide. So if GM did ever go under, I'm sure a buyer would take Holden up.

Really it's about time GM learnt how to run a business. Now they are on deaths door, It might be to late for them.

What could be better, you get pulled over for doing a skid, the police offer a free adjustment, a couple of good whacks later, the reception is far clearer then ever before.

Ive been in the car industry since 2004. I just quit my full-time job for a casual job last week. I really wanted to hold onto fulltime employment, but going 2 weeks with no pay isn't going to work. Also working for 5 days in April is not going to pay the bills. Got out while I could and before more people leave and try and find other work.

So true. The GM world needs less hummers and fwd large cars. And more Torana type cars..

holden relies heavily on GM platforms and know how to develop commodore in australia. if GM goes under, holden couldn't operate independently. maybe someone else would buy it though. Hyundai-Holden perhaps?

I think it's around the other way. Many years ago GM went FWD crazy. And what they thanked was Holden as they found out they were still doing RWD cars.

To me GM just ****s it all up when they but their noses into things. And i wouldn't mind Hyundai buying Holden, They only need a parent to continue, But GM won't let them go unless they fold, Which might be to late.
