Did a search, couldn't find anything relevant. Just wondering if anyone here owns or races karts. I used to take my endurance kart to the tracks for some fun, but now it just sits in the garage. I am thinking about saving for a new rotax or leopard, and maybe get into some competitive racing.
Feel free to also post about experiences in hire karts, I have heard some funny stories from people, like how fast they think they are going, when in fact they are just putting by at like 50kmph lol.
yeah some hire karts feel like there heaps fast but when you watch people on the same karts they look slow as lol and then you get the home made looking gokarts that cant even go half the speed of smell lol. i rember going to some hire kart place and the whole time i had my foot to the floor and didnt even bother with the brake cause they were that slow haha
This looks like a thread for Eurekamad94 lol.
I went to some out the back of dandy recently, just for some late night fun. First cart I had the front wheels kept sliding, quite scary as your trying to turn and your front wheel just arnt gripping and your getting closer and closer to the wall. So second run I decided I didnt want that cart again. Second one was much better in every aspect except the pick up, but wasnt a problem caus being able to turn meant i didnt have to wipe off so much speed. Though after hitting a corner really hard my leg ****ING HURTS, quickly realised my leg was rubbing on the front tyre, only for a second. Happened everytime I turned really hard into a corner, so everytime i was under pressure from someone else I didnt stand a chance, but I guess thats what you get when your 192 cm tall lol. Apparently they are 80km/h, but I dont think so, 50-60 seems more realistic.
Always alot of fun, and great when you've got a few mates, or just find rivals on the track lol.
lol ive been on a home made one lol i can tell u right now it hits ova 100 easy lol it has a motorbike engine
Yeah before I got my own kart, i frequented the hire karts. Never realised how dangerous they are!!
One time the family went and we all hired karts. It started to rain, and I thought "WTF, I'm not losing my money just cause its raining". Ended up like a drift session in the wet, probably the most fun I have ever had karting, even though i was going supe slow haha.
*sits and waits for Eurekamad94*
I used to go karting years back at the track in Sommerton with my local club one day every few weeks or so and I got pretty good at it. Could easily hold the accelerator wide open around the whole track (KT100J) and rely on sliding to get me around corners. I was about 15 at the time. They once gave me a shot in a KT100S but stopped me after a few laps because they thought I was getting c0cky.
Then in 2006 I bought my own kart (KT100J) and raced speedway for a year. The majority of the races were at Drouin. It was fun but it wasnt very even competition as modifieds and stocks ran together. I had a bog stock motor so could never beat the modifieds and diddnt have the cash or knowlege to go modifying. I did alright though and beat the majority of the other stocks and finished around 5th every time. But being sick of the same people at the front of the pack every time I quit. Kinda was getting over it at the time anyway and had enough of the dirt. If I had the money to back me up at the beginning I would have raced bichamen because its hell of alot more fun. Anyway it was time to move onto bigger things.
I still have my kart that Ive never been able to sell if anyones interested in buying one. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...d-go-kart.html
i reacon that buggies are the way to go, i had a dune buggie sorta thinggy and i put a 750 roadbike motor on the back of it could sit on about 150kph and was the best fun and it loved the mud, until sum d***k head stole it
Azzfox, yeah the clubmans go pretty hard if they are set up right, I've handled a few, loads of fun, but i want something faster. Rotax mmmm
Big balls, no offence, but buggies and go karts are not really a comparison, they are each very different. Shame about the dick who stole it though, some people are just f***wits

ive got 2 sprint karts, racing this weekend for the first time this year actually, its good fun, but expensive, we have been racing since 2004, the sport is expensive tho. imnot sure whats around in nsw but in vic there is heaps of clubs to join.
dont compare a hire kart to a proper race kart, their nothing alike
i used to won a off road cart with full rollcage, 250cc motorbike motor and front end off a van! used to have lots of fun on it over the years now it just rots away at a wrecking yard./..
Been racing karts since 2002 and Rotax since 2005. Have raced both Sprint & Superkart configurations.
What do you want to know?
Yes I also want to see pics lol..
And to Ripcell, I started this thread for people to discuss experiences in both racing and hire karts, so the comparison can be made![]()
