Sell the VL for beer money that you will consume whilst putting all the calais interior into the VP, or putting the VP running gear into the Calais.

    Agreed!! ^^^

Is the calais a 5 litre?? If it is...

Clean up the VL as best and cheapest you can, sell it to fund the rebuild / kit on the calais motor, and swap everything over to the VP, then you wont be too much out of pocket, and have a clean VP calais (mokka)

Unless someone else has a better idea??

    What motors in the VL??

Go with the vp calias,if the vl is just a base model dont waste your money on it ,as for the motor just pick a cheap Vp series 2- vr and swap the running gear or hunt around for another vp- vr calias that needs a tidy up and swap your gear out of the old one

Put the calais bits in your VP, you may as well drive around daily in comfort and clean the VL up, sell it and put the money towards buying someones unfinished project. Sometimes most of the hard work has already been done and it just needs a little more to finish.

check that nothings been bent or cracked like the chassis rails on the calais before you spend too much time on it, but as you said the damage isnt that bad.
