calling all tradies.
i use to have a 14.4v panosonic lithum ion battery drill, it's aprox 15 months old and it is dead. motor has died in the drill, unfortunatly cost of repair is gong to cost more than the drill (go the exchange rate's) so it's now time for a new drill, after spending 500+ on this drill im far from impressed, the older pano drill was excelent, but this new flash thing isnt that flash.
been looking at a milwalkie or a dewalt drill, anyone out there have any experiance with either of those drills
im a electrician, biggest hole ill drill is a 40mm hole with the hole saw, use it to tighten up screws, and drill into 4 or 5mm thick metal, so yeah, will either of those drill suit, or am i barking up the wrong tree.
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
milwalkie had mine for 5 years and still as strong as new! well worth the dollars!
and used every day at work all the time!

NEW RIDE VX BERLINA 5.7
sorry to say, you have the best drill already, weird for it to stuff up like that.
milwalkie is crap, im a auto sparky and i burnt out 2 of them in my apprentice ship, i currently have a AEG, nothing special, not the greatest thing out there, but it has been reliable, had that for 3 years now.
if your drilling 40mm hole saws into metal, that most likely whats killing it, anything bigger then a 13mm drill bit i use a air drill,
dewalt has served me well never had a problem i jsut have an 18v most guys at my work use em and u can buy the tools but themself of hte net for bugger all so if it ever does *** up ur all sweet
If you have the receipt take it back to where you bought it from.
Dunno which ones to recomend really, only ones I've used recently is my dads good one (really old, not sure how old, but VERY old) and its still a great drill. Does the job no worries.
And used a makita (spelling?) at school. Seems to go alright, but I've not much to compare it to anyway.

lister, de walt, metabo, makita.
Research has shown that men usually sleep on the right side of the bed.
Even in our sleep we happen to be right.
Powered By Garrett
most of the guys i work with use hitachi
Hubby uses dewalt, my old mans a sparky too garth, used to use panasonic now hes converted to the dewalt.
Hitachi usually make good stuff, but we have them at work and the batteries seem to need charging all the time. Goes without saying, don't buy any drill made in china.
im also a sparky so yer dewalt is the good gear
the fact that they have so many attatchments is good also
I'm also a sparky... the new lithium ion milwaukee's are awesome, though quite expensive. I used to use the 15V Hilti and that was awesome, could not fault it, but it was unfortunately stolen from boot one night while I was at the movies. My replacement drill is a 18V Makita, and it is effing fantastic! I don't remember the model number, but it's the newest one, L-ion with the 2 speed gear box. Apparently they had problems with the 3 speed gear boxes, but my one has been great so far with no problems at all in the world. Highly recommend it!
i got 2 $600 hitachi's never had a problem with either including dropping one from a ladder, goes 2 days 8 hours a day constant use before charging
The Mad Dutchman
yer my mates lion was pretty sik till it died used to go hard but yer no good if they *** out
one of the guys at work has the milwakie 28v witht the grinder as well which is prety sik but pricey
Im a plasterer and i have a hitachi 18v 3ah drill and that thing goes well. I use it for mixing up and all and havent had a problem with it at all. Ive also dropped it many times. Ive never really used dewalt much but from what i have used of them they are top notch
Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise
We had three dewalts at work -
one the trigger shorted out and burnt all the batteries out
one the charger EXPLODED whilst charging a battery
one the whole gear box and clutch assembly died.
Tried the hitachi's too - absolute crap! Constantly shutting down when the battery gets a bit low - which is real handy in a roof.
We're onto makita right now and they're probably the best drills that we've had
At work we've got a single milwaukee 18v drill, its great, would reccomend

You do understand where both the above drills come from?
Ok just to add the the sparx list, im also in the sparx department, now who has ever dropped a Dewalt of the top of a set of 10' steps, thats right the bust in half, the plastic it to brittle, but the AEG's and Milwaukee's will withstand that drop easy(yes i have tested it)
I have two milwaukee's right now, a 14.4 screw/hammer and a 12 Li-ion fit off, best things ive had in years
Hitachi ftw
i'd watch out with dewalt, im a plumber and we have had to engine die and 2 clutches die. avoid them, they cant handle being used eveeryday
