Default What is the law on..

chirping. I know it is illegal, but what is the actual fine and fine description for it? My car has a habit of chirping whilst driving like the oldest granny on the road and ALWAYS when next to Mr. Plod. One even pointed and started cutting sick at me when he was with another pulled over driver, i kinda shrugged I cant help ittttt.

I might be going from my 235/45/17's back to cop rims with probably 205 or 215's and Im guessing it will be doing it more with the skinny wheels on, so yeah, just want to know what the fine and stuff it.
    Cheers.

Erm how cant you help it?

Its not like your car is a power machine. I suggest making it drivable before its impounded.

    I thought maybe exessive noise

I have no idea of teh fines, I've never been the kind of person to drive like a ****wit and I look looking after my car and I was told shift kits prolong the life of gearboxes of something cause they change quicker and put less wear on internals or something like that

I thought they fine you for excessive noise. I have been waiting to get pulled over in my work ute. It is a 4X4 Hilux diesel with limited slip diff. Every time you go around a roundabout it squeals the tyres ,and it doesn't matter how slow you go it still squeals as soon as you start to turn.

Just hope they don't have a go at your for doing burnouts or hooning, cause a couple of them and your car will be in a nice neat little cube!

Very very simple solution to your problem.

See the big retangular pedal, just to the right of the brake pedal?
Don't push that one down so fast.....

For it to chirp you would need to be accelerating quickly like soop said so I would suggest hoon laws could come into it, possibly "display of acceleration" - if it's illegal here or not I don't know.

    Excessive acceleration is a law!

Not sure if you'd need to be accelerating excessively for it to chirp tho, stage 2s can be pretty violent. Not that i care, i ****in hate autos!

Maybe I should clarify that the rubber that came on my wheels in the package is cheap and called Durun's. It is most likely a crappy compound and I have already found that I have excessive tire noise from them. Maybe if I had expensive rubber it wouldnt make the pissweak little noise. My mrs. hates it and we had to fix her Festiva asap because she hated doing what she calls the "tiny little chirpy noises", and she drives soooo frickin slow.

Sure, under some acceleration it does it. I have gearbox problems aswell, and it mainly does it under little acceleration, as on the very very rare occasion that the car is under heavy acceration on a friends property, it wont change gears. (blew the translines from wear and tear from lack of previous owners mainenence, the trans briefly ran dry)

I was also just inquiring what law this would come under.

(And maybe I should have titled it "if your are going to respond with rubbish, GTFO---->")

its got a shift kit guys, you dont have to be flawing it at all for it to chirp. u could go for reckless driving, u will get ur car impounded, and if u tell them about the shift kid causing it they will slap one of those yellow stickers on it.
a bit off topic but that trick to get a digital speedo on the speed alert thing is awsome as decribed above in omegas post. i just done it, i havnt benn this excited since my 1st xmas.lol
