yeh happened here too but that was the week before Xmas.

stay positive, thats what ive done. If a business is to survive they need to cut back.

Not a nice feeling but everyone who was cut back here have all found new jobs in the same industry, despite the massive media attention that automotive is suffering.

I know the feeling mate i got laid off at Christmas but i was lucky enough to get another job, been there 5 weeks now .its a pretty good job if you like working in a freezer at minus 15 degrees.

Another freezer person lol, people always say I've got the best job in summer and tell me how awful it must be in winter. Personally, I'm used to it (except first thing in the damned morning).

OP just be thankful it wasn't you, make yourself irreplaceable and they won't even think about taking you off the team

Bad move. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted

Back in the dim, dark days of the management fad called "right-sizing", I and many others were given redundancy and moved on. Soon after, there was action to bring me back for a short period. I resisted for a couple of years, and then finally agreed to return full time, even getting a healthy "sign-on fee" up front. I was surprised how many of those "released" had been re-employed in their old jobs within three years.

Stayed there for another half dozen years, but every time a promotion appeared possible, my boss veto'ed it on the grounds that he did not have a suitable replacement available.

Finally voted with my feet, being quite willing to accept the tag of "traitor" along the way. Now, instead of working 60 to 80 hour weeks, I work 40 hours and then spend the "regained" twenty plus hours running my kids to their many sports activitities. Much better option, even though pay has dropped a bit.
