Faulty tomtom?

Hey all,
I've just got my hands on a tomtom GO 710 but i can't get it to start. It keeps coming up on the screen the map card coming out and then a cross goes through the card. Is the unit faulty or do i need a new card?

sounds like it isn't detecting the card. Try removing it and replacing it after cleaning the contacts.

Are you sure the software and maps are actually loaded on the card? Try installing the software on your computer and hooking it up, then see what happens.

2 Friends and I have had exactly the same problem in the past, your card is corrupted.
we luckily were able to just copy each others cards to rectify
Hopefully you have a card reader and a friend with the same unit otherwise you need a new card

juzo, if you buy an SD card from me and give me the serial number of your GO710 i'll inlcude that in the next batch i send to TomTom. And when it comes back i'll just send it to you! Where abouts you located?

I'm sending 5-8 away already tomorrow for old TomToms at Dick Smith tomorrow. These are the proper ones that you can't just copy though. The GO710 was the first to use those cards from memory.

Well, postage is like $0.55, but sadly 2GB SD cards aint that cheap. So i'd say like $10?

Also, you arn't needing this within 3 weeks are you? TomTom service can be a little slow at the best of times.

Ahhh cool, but what about the maps?
Do i have to pay for that?

Nope, i just say that we have these unit's with X serial number (underneath where the barcode is) that we can't sell because they dont have any maps. Then send SD cards off to them and they send them back for those units.
