Unless its hairless or a poodle all dogs moult.
My dog is a mastiff x staffy and her fur is so short that she can't get fleas, but she moulted so much last year I thought she was going bald.
Invest in a good brush, there's special ones you can get specifically for getting that moult coat out.

If a puppy has big paws, its going to be a big dog in most cases

Go and have a look down at your nearest RSPCA or similar.
I lost both my dogs (aged 14 and 19) withing 6 months of each other and I didn't have time for a puppy so I went to the ACT RSPCA looking for a dog(they do get puppies in too).
I wrote down what I wanted in a dog that suited my lifestyle and went looking without the guidelines of a specific breed.
I found Kimba a 10 month old staffy x mastiff and she was perfect. Her breed had nothing to do with why we adopted her, It was totally based on her personality and nature.

Also buy from a proper breeder. Dont buy from pet shops.

As far as a dog that dosnt malt too much the king charles spaniel is a good choice as they have feathery sort of fur, miniature chauau(??spelling) is a fairly hairless dog too but not much of a dog IMO though. But im partial to staffys as i have one, i like medium sized dogs. But if you like little yap dogs thats good too, it really upto what suits you.

If this is your pup you will need to be aware that they will require 24hour care for a while just like a little kid. I sorta found this out the hard way. Was the only thing i overlooked when buying my dog. I would get home from N/S and look after it while the mrs was off to work on d/s and i used to miss out on alot of sleep for a few weeks because of the pup. But if your lucky enough to have somone at home during the week all the time then it wont be a problem.

hey mate, have you looked at rottweilers?

not for everyone, they require a heap of obedience training, and love, but they can be one of the most loving/loyal breeds around if you pick a good registered breeder.

if your an active person it helps, being a working dog they need at least 2 good workouts a day.

I'm onto my second rotty, diesel 16 weeks old, such a softy.

    first day home 8 weeks

    about 14 weeks at work.

    [IMG][/IMG]

As vrwagz1 said, be ready for no sleep or life for the first few weeks. Their like a baby.

Good luck, and stay well away from pet shops.

rspca, save a dog the pain of being put to sleep.

petshops suck, they charge you a insaine amount to buy, you can get the same dog at the rspca for 1/3 the price.
