    Default diesel into tank

ok, my fellow colleague from work, not naming any names somehow managed to put 38 bux worth of diesel into her impreza. only to make it 3/4 way home b4 stalling. we managed to tow the car home and drain the tank of its contents. filled it up with premium and its smokey as hell. could the diesel have done any damage?

proberly fouled the plugs and injectors too
might be worth changing the plugs and running injector cleaner with premium to clean the system

it will smoke for a while. but wont do any permanent damage, its just upper cylinder lubricant and will make the top of the piston nice and clean

lol... the diesel nozzle doesn't even fit in a petrol filler does it?

But yeah... what Peanut said... basically the long and painful way to clean the pistons... :P

reason there is small nosels for diesels is that new euro cars which are diesel cars need the small filler compaired to the larger ones for trucks and 4wds

my tata uses the smaller filler, makes it hard as only a select few servos have them

Alot of places use the same sized Diesel pump as standard unleaded. Its mostly just high flow diesel pumps that are larger in size as high flow pumps are only meant for trucks and large vehicles, they flow too fast for standard sized vehicles with your average 50-70L tanks.

yeah will be fine , just go for a long drive in the country to flush the premium through.

slightly off topic but still related to diesel.
I was told that when you fill up a car with norm petrol, put a splash of diesel in.
The reason being that it cleaned your engine..

I thought this was a bit of crap dribbling out of their mouth, trolling me in real life :P

I still think its bullsh*t but could I possibly be wrong, I'm not wanting to try this, lol.

I think I will just stick to BP ultimate..

A mate that lives on a farm rekons they do that alot of the time. And oneday driving behind another mate (which drives a 5.0L VP) I noticed it was smoking a fair bit when he backed off the throttle. Caught up with him a few mins l8r and he said he was running a bit of diesel through with the petrol to clean it out.

    So apparently it does work.

And I heard its good to dump your oil put the plug back in pour a bit of diesel in and let it sit for a bit and then drop that, apparently it cleans out most of the deposits, never tried it though.

Yeah I've heard of that too.....but I use a Nulon product (Engine Flush or sumfin) which does the same thing. Ya chuck the gear in, let it idle for a while to mix in with the oil and work its way around, then stop ya motor and dump the oil. I normally buy it, put it straight in at the shop, drive home then dump it.

metho is just ethanol so by adding it to a full tank of petrol it is actually weaker than E10 fuel. 1 litre of metho with 60 L of fuel works out to about 1 or 2 % ethanol verses the 10% in E10.

It's fine to put metho in your fuel tank. When I got a bit of water in the fuel tank I dumped a litre of metho in there to help evaporate it. Car steadily improved the whole way home.

It doesn't 'evaporate' it, it just allows the water to mix with the fuel and be put through the engine.

I'm guessing her hair is blonde?

That is just wrong, It is just unreal that someone could mistake the Diesel bowser for an Unleaded bowser.Anybody that lets this happen considers their mode of transport to be just 4 wheels and a motor.
