I was shocked to find out recently in our global fianancial crisis that yet another merchant was taking advantage of the situation and had undergone a price hike. Case 1 mickey thompson street radials. A popular budget tyre, makes drag racing affordable. Early 2008 i purchased a pair of 235/15/60 M/T street radials for $225 each, great tyre but as most tyres it doesnt last forever and it came time to get a new pair, boy was i shocked, speachless, mortified when i went into CMP to find out they were now asking $495 each. I asked the bloke- how do you justify this price increase, his reply was the weak US dollar, i dont claim to be a fianancial guru but wouldnt that make them cheaper??? i didnt get much of an explanation from this guy so i gave A1 Perf a call, he was asking $400. i asked why, atleast this guy could explain things a little for me, turns out mickey thompson has been taken over by a parent company - cooper or some sh*t. and they've assessed the M/T 235's as not making enough money so being greedy they have up-d the prices. i dont know about you, but they arent worth that much. if people wanted to pay close to a grand for the rear end tyres they'd get proper slicks, i think it is an outrage. what do you think???
Weaker AU Dollar = higher US prices. Currently we get just 63 US cents for each Australian Dollar. When you bought the tyres last we were getting 85 cents+.

thats not gonna make the prices jump over double, if it were a 20% increase it could be justifyed, the amount they're asking for now is boarding on ridiculas dont you agree?
so you think that $270 increase in price sounds about right, maybe then can you tell me why the 275's havent increased in price so heavily as the 235's?
Supply and Demand. Watched the same thing happen with Bridgestone R-spec tyres a couple of years back.

i agree, cheapie tires have gone up a fold , 130 for crappy road stones now 180 190 each
its crap
had a look on the M/T website, you can buy them there for about $269.00AUS they're $174USD i think the lastest aussie dollar is fetching 65 cents, so yeah they must somehow double in price during the freight over from arizona lol!!!!!!
yep when I went in to get muddies for my 4x4 in january. Mickey Thompson had taken the price up about $100 per tyre. Apparantly all tyre companies have had a price rise now though...
