I'm sure most of you have caught this story by now, when are NRL officials going to get tough on these fools.
If this guy is allowed to play the Bulldogs in the first round I think the officials should be given their marching orders, starting with David Gallop.

What a load of crap. If he gets jail time, sure, his job should be at risk, but whats the difference to joe blow down at the foundry with the same conviction?
Guess NRL is the same as AFL, they think their above the law (meaning someone could still be employed in a different job, eg Ben cousins)

You want to exploit women, then p*ss off to Iran, Iraq or other such countries where women have no value and are treated like shit.
I love how people are beating this story up. He is being charged with sexual assault. I had a friend charged with sexual assault in the workplace. Stupid slut of a woman kept saying to him he wanted to **** her. He put in complaints, nothing was done, so one day he turned around and said, ok lets do it and hit her on the arse. He was charged with Sexual assault and with sexual misconduct. This is how easy it is for women to get these charges laid.
The fact he is being charged with assault says to me he may of copped a feel. Who knows. Without knowing the full story no one has a right to comment. As for saying these people are role models and overpaid etc, what a crock of shit, they only play sport, they did not ask to be admired by legions of fans, they just do what they enjoy, it is the public that make these people role models, the public has a lot to answer for. Can't wait to see what the real story is. No doubt this girl is after some quick cash.

I agree 100% with Minux, i reckon at worst he probably brushed past her in a walkway and they though "hey quick money". hes been charged but they dont really have alot of proof from what they said on the news, thats why they are allowing him to play still. because they dont have concrete eveidence.
I don't usually disagree with Minux, but I do on this one.
My greatest concern is the "efficency" with which the hired goons, i.e. legal profession, have sought to intimidate the "victim's" family so as to coerce her to withdraw her complaint rather than have her or her family's name dragged through the mud in court. It is sad that this overt media action now seems to be the first and rapid response of sporting clubs to their PR disasters.
It was especially interesting to me to hear that the player in question refused to cooperate with the initial police interview by refusing to make a statement.
IMHO, let the legal system deal with it in court rather than through the media or blogs. At least this one appears as if it will get to court. The fact that the laying of charges was delayed waiting for test results indicates that there is a real chance that more than a "feel" was involved.
I expect that the real story will be different to the interpretations that most are putting on it. It would be nice if juctice was done this time, whatever the outcome might be.
I have a neice who was subjected to sexual assault - lets not muck around - rape. In this case, it was in the workplace. She complained to police. She was sacked from her job. She fought that, and eventually got her job back, but they made it unbearable for her, so she eventually gave in. Yes, the accused has finally been charged, but only after many years of additional suffering on her part.
So may justice be done.
I don't particularly need the full story to have a right to comment, and comment I will.
You say money has nothing to do with it B/S footballers are paid a rediculous amount of money for what, the odd blue, heavy training, media appearances and kicking a ball around.
They appear in news articles stroking cancer patients on the head then turn around and glass or rape someone, now that is a joke.
Sure some women set charges up, but looking at history you would be an imbecile to think this is an isolated incident.
Whilst you have an example of an actual sexual assault, there are many men who are accused of the same actions, which havn't done anything!
I know, because i've been in that situation! Little tramp said me and 2 of my mates raped her. Funnily enough, after all the DNA test proved negative, it was found out she was just seeking attention! Same case with this girl i think. After that incident, i'll never trust a woman who says she's been raped again, ever!

Justice wont be done in this case. The reverse will happen, if he's innocent, he'll be charged guilty through technicality, and same as if he's guilty, he'll get off with a slap on the wrist.

These footballer pricks think they are gods gift to women and have the capital to get them out of sticky situations so they turn out looking like saints, then it's back to the cancer patients.
It's past time to take these unruly footballers by the balls and make it clear that it will not be tolerated.
When is justice done? A priest was recently just let off charges of assaulting a minor, reason being, he would not get a fair trial. Another was let off in NSW for raping a 4 year old girl as the judge felt the prisons were too full. Another aboriginal who violently assaulted a grandmother was let off because "he had not had a fair break in life" the list goes on.
Fact is our justice system is a joke, if this guy is guilty, he deserves all he gets, I am betting though that the fact he is a high profile sports person the charges being laid are made to sound much worse than they actually are. Regardless if he did do wrong, he deserves the punishment, but after seeing past cases, my guess is he did nothing wrong.

minux, there is a massive history on violent behavior towards women in particular when it comes to foolballers.
They are used to the attention and when (god forbid) a girl declines unwanted advances, they like to get all resentfull.
They just expect girls to open their legs regardless.
We do not put up with that shit here.
Btw, none of that other shit has anything to do with the subject.

As for footballers and behaviour towards women, must be a NSW/QLD code thing, rarely do you hear about anything from the AFL guys, perhaps it is because rugby players generally are not the brightest of souls? Who knows, i think it is aa pretty big generalisation to say all footballers are violent towards women and that they all expect women to spread their legs for them.

Ok, not all footballers engage in that sort of thing but I would say it is in the majority.
Whilever they are paraded around the media like pansies and paid gross amounts of money for what is essentially kicking a ball around, coulped with alcohol abuse, you can be certain that this will become increasingly bad in future.
Actually a little off topic, I heard an awesome suggestion on how the justice system SHOULD work yesterday.
Reverse the roles, the judge decides on guilty or innocent, the jury decides on jail terms...might get fairer punishments that way.
