Holden bashing on ford sites

Hy all,

Just thought might bring up something that I have noticed about they way holden and ford fans act in person and on forums.
Im the kind of person that sees good and bad in most things and can admit when something is good, take for example the ford I6 engine, its a good piece of engineering and my hat goes off to ford for the effort that has gone into it.
Now on this forum and several other holden forums I frequent, alot of people compliment the I6 and do admit that its a good motor (especially in turbo form).
However whenever I go on a ford forum they will sing there own praises and tend to always bag out holden, no matter how much better something that holden has is.
They will find something to pick on, they pick on the alloytec not being as good as there 6, they pick on the 8's because they still use push rods (even though there more economical and powerful than there "more advanced" V8 and whenever there is a recall of something small goes on with holden you can guarantee they will have a laugh about it but as soon as there is a ford recall it will be "good on them for looking after safety" or they will put some positive spin on it.
Even when I was at bathurst a few months back, people have written in the cubicles and you see the "go holden" or "holden rules", but then there is the anti holden stuff (i.e "holden sucks") and there is very little pro ford grafitti on the walls.
Are Ford fans (not all just alot I have seen) so insecure about there product the only way they can defend it is by bagging out the competition ?
I honestly struggle to go into 1 thread on the ford forums without seeing someone bagging out holden in someway.
They just seem very narrow minded and I don't to start a Holden VS ford thread, just wanted to mention my observations.
Has anyone else noticed this behavoiur at all ?

P.S Yes I know I stuffed up the title and I wont have the best spelling in here, Im on a wireless keyboard which is crap.

I think if you compared Die Hard to Die Hard fans. I do tend to agree the Ford guys are a bit childish. I remember in 2007 I think it was I went to a Ford Day with my dad and wore my HSV hat. I got nothing but abuse from the "Die Hards". However the following week when my dad took me to a Holden Day he took along his FPV jacket, the Die Hards were more, playful, they cracked a few jokes and didnt threaten to throw him in the nearby river (something that I was threatened with).

Of course youre gonna get the fans from both sides of the camp who are downright morons but I do tend to see more on the Ford fence who do take it a little bit more seriously.

Plus its common knowledge our V6 sucks, but our V8 can boast the most.

my theory is that morons are attracted to the sound of a turbo. therefore when ford start releasing turboed cars, morons want them, and start liking ford more.

yea ive found this too alot of them are just tool's a few of my mate's dad's are die hard ford fan's and i know alot of die hard holden fan's and holden's just handle it better but ford's just want to be the "be all and end all" of auto motive wich it simply isnt to say the least .....

Im a ford fan myself but im not blind sighted. I know ford has the better 6 and its not hard to figure out that holden's v8 is better. There are just too many tunnel vision dick heads who can't see past their favourite brand no matter what

There's a guy at an auto parts shop that gave me crap every time I (used) to go in there. Whether it was for holden part or not he would be like 'wouldn't have the problem with a falcon'-Last time when I brought a Sub cover?? wtf??
I stopped going there because of him, It wasn't light hearted at all, just stupid really.
Holdens are my favourite and always have been yet I'm much more of a Holden Rules girl rather than Ford sucks one iykwim.

yeah, ive found most die hard ford fanboys have little or no intellect, when i cop abuse (serious or joking) when they see my commo, i tell them my daily is a ford and i prefer the I6 over the V6 they pull there heads back in lol. i really couldnt care less about the rivalry. respect and admire the car or brand for what it is, hell i was seriously trying to decide between an XR6T and what i have now, the SV8 was a lot cheaper and i wanted 6 gears. and LS1 was a really big carrot to dangle in front of me.

each to there own, ive owned 2 of each. both go pros and cons.

i havent been on a ford forum in a while but the last time i was on there they were the opposite and saying things like how the Statesman really shits all over the LTD and they would buy a Statesman anyday over one.

also another one i remember reading was when the 6.0ltr was coming out and they were saying they would have to get more racing stripes to be able to try and keep up lol.

but it is true, my old man is a ford lover and my whole life he has always bagged out holdens but i love them and from my experience from owning both i'll choose the holden anyday.

It's funny I go on both forums and the Ford fans are MUCH more anti Holden than Holden guys are towards Ford, I mean we all know which model Falcons were better than the Commodore and can easily admit it, however to a Ford fan ALL Holdens are shit end of story lol. Strangely enough they really do believe Holden fans are more biased than them but as far as I can see that's not true. I'm happy to admit the AU to BF were all better than the coresponding Commodores at least in the 6 cylinder versions because by that stage the I6 was sorted, no more broken head gaskets. Actually I think the only models they do respect in general are VL turbos VN V6's (respect that they were fast for what they are) and anything powered by a LS motor, they are happy to admit that is a better motor than the Ford Boss V8

Every time I'm with a mate who is a ford fan and we have a conversation about cars it always ends up being about how bad holden are and keep breaking down (talking about my 2 cars). Even thought both my holdens haven't broken down accept the vz which and a dead battery but we didnt have the money to replace it at the time and a fuel pump on the vs needed replacing after 230,000kms. He is like ford don't break down at all. I say your auto el has flodded itself, your dads ba lpg electronics died then trying to defend him self he says thats not broken down and then stats saying shit about me.

I cant say this for all ford fans I have met some and they are reasonable and don't say s**t about you owning a holden.

But I bet there are holden fans who do the same thing.

Sad to say, but the Ford die hards are beyond comprehension. Better still my brother says it like this "they are way too far gone to be reasoned with". I will never forget one day I went to the servo to fill up my VZ Adventra and a guy pulls up in the opposite pump in his territory, he get's out, looks over at me pumping fuel and gives me a "oh, you bought one of those" looks. He chucked to himself, then popped the bonnet of his brand new territory and then put a litre of oil in it - WTF?

Or I went onto a Ford Forum recently for my nephew and on there someone put a post stating "would you rather a EL Falcon or VT Commodore". Naturally everyone replied saying they wanted the Falcon, I kept reading the responses and people were replying with comments such as "sure you might blow a head gasket, but at least your rear tail lights work" - WTF - a high chance of head gasket failure is preferable to a couple of blown globes?

Wtf?! There are just as many dumb tools on Holden forums that pay out Fords as well as the other way round. They are both just as bad as each other.

I'd own a Ford if given the oppurtunity to buy the few that i want (F6 Typhoon ute, or a BA or BF? GT in the Ford blue colour which is blueprint i THINK??).

They are alot nicer than Holden's offensive looking abomonation of a car they released (the VE).

It would seem that the ford people have been sitting back and watching their cars get flogged on the track for a decade a few years ago but now since avesco have slowly modified the rules to suit them ,the ford wankers now support with venom their breed....sort of like backing a favourite. Avesco reckon they have to keep the ford wankers happy and the holden blokes will always turn up to balance the books and keep the circus happenning. The VE isnt an offensive looking car....the stocko garden variety car is very plain but thats cars you have to supply poverty pak cars to suit mr plain jane who counts his dollars and looks on a car as just transport....but the up spec VE's look the goods.

Sorry Stocky but that post was a massive generalisation...... there are morons that drive N/A and supercharged cars too.

O.T: Haven't really had much dealings with ford fans aside from the in laws, mostly we just use the ford Vs Holden for a bit of fun mainly for Bathurst weekend

i know for a fact that Holden bashing threads are looked down upon at Australian Ford Forums - powered by vBulletin and are squashed pretty damn quickly too.
a lot of the times the user is banned on the spot.
not all ford owners are dipshits that bag out holdens, its usually just the uneducated try hards that do - just like here and other holden forums.
Ive always seen the good and bad and listened to both side of the story when it is presented but what really shits me is generalisations - like all VN owners are bogans and wankers.
some are, some arent but its not a fair generalisation to make that claim is it.
BTW, i own both Holdens and Fords, as do many other Ford owners.

But still... the BMW boys don't even remotely compare to some of the idiots I've come across on a bike (dh) forum.

Personally... I think most of the regulars on this forum are mature enough not to blindly bag others and their cars simply based on the badge.

Thus why I've been on here for so long... you get the random hero come through... but the regulars are capable of having a intelligent discussion without resorting to mindless comments.

This forum used to be terrible for ford bashing, it's been tidied up a lot over the past year or two, people generally don't do it and when the ocassional ford bashing thread comes up most people are either sick of it or don't really care.

Agreed that fordforums is a pretty nice place, I signed up there ages ago because it was a good place to go, I asked one question and I ended up staying there for a while, I even put my vl project build thread up on there and didn't cop any flack from them about it being a holden, or a fully hektik muzztek vl.

The bashing happens everywhere, it's pretty ridiculous and petty.
