NA
did you even think about that before you posted? :P
Just speak clearly and listen to what they have to say. Thats all most people ask from an apprentice.
thats about it.
dont come across as a know it all or someone that is nervous/scared to be in a pressure situation.
sure youll have nerves as everyone does in an interview but you know what i mean.
answer ALL the questions, dont say "i dont know"
if you really dont know, say youve never had to do that/be in that situation before, but if i were, i would do this.....that etc.
tell them why you want to do what your doing as well (not for the money either).
think about this one before hand as well and have a really good reason why you are willing to leave your old company to join this company - they wouldnt want you to do the same to them would they.
make eye contact - thats probably the most important thing.
Helps to research a Company on the net before an interview, then you can mention a fact or two about the Company during the interview. This shows you are interested in the Company and it's products/service.
Maintain eye contact with the interviewer, don't fidget, cross your arms or pick your nails etc.
The don'ts of an interview:
1. Don't ask about leave entitlements or having time off, this will be explained during an induction.
2. Don't ask how many smoko's you get, or how long is lunch - again covered induction.
*be surprised how many people do this, which paints an impression all you care about is the non working aspect of the job*
But do ask one or two of the following when asked at the end 'do you have any questions?' (never say no):
1. Ask what career opportunities are available (Probably not quite so relevant yet for an apprentice, but you could ask if they keep their apprentices on after they complete same)
2. Ask if there is a social club and if so can you join (for medium to large sized companies)
3. Ask if overtime is available during peak trading periods
4. Depending on the business you could enquire as to clothing requirements, do you need to wear a uniform, PPE (personal protection equipment) etc.
At the conclusion of the interview firmly shake the hand of the interviewer and say something like 'thank you for the opportunity of meeting with you today'
most of all DONT mention your father working there, even if its obvious to you and them, make it sound like you want the job on your on merits, dont try and live off your fathers reputation (it may backfire on you hehe)

I just got a job at Monash University the other day and I'm only 19. I found that by just sitting there shutting up having a light hearted laugh with them at the start to break the ice worked. Look at each of the people give them a firm handshake and then listen. Answer the questions as simple-as-possible, but pause before you give the answer, think about what you're going to say before you say it, it shows you think first which is what they like and it gives you a chance to construct the sentence and know exactly what you're going to say. There's nothing worse than speaking to someone and then stuttering because you're not sure what you were trying to say or not sure how to explain yourself. Other than that just be yourself be polite, listen and just take it easy. Being nervous is fine I know I was but don't let it get to you because it is a natural reaction when you're going for a job and you're excited about. Showing them you have a passion for what you do will help as well, if they can see its something you love doing then it will be easy. It's all about selling yourself subtely, be the perfect candidate without being cocky.
Good luck mate...
