For those that went what did you think, what were your highlights?
For us at the SCG the "getting in" bit was a bit of a drama. After finding the line to "Gate T" was almost a Kilometer long we waited for more then an hour only to take 3 steps forward every now and then.
12:15 hits and we hear Coldplay fire up. Quite a number of people in the line get frustrated.
But then BAM the line becomes close to running pace, we get to the gate to find they'd opened Gate E and several other gates surrounding our "Gate T", security were shouting "dont stop, scan your barcode and keep walking". People stopped to open bags for inspections "no not interested, keep walking keep this area clear"
So we got in just in time for Your The Voice and it got better from thereWe saw chris Martin run into the audience for a good 5 minutes, returned to the stage, sung 2 lines and ran out of breath!
Lucky for us we snapped up some seats under cover, so we were in the shade for the sun (lots of sunburnt bods tho) and under cover when it rained.
We also ran out into the middle for the experience, seeing as out tickets were acctually apparantly for standing room and NOT seating.
I have to appluad security for opening ALL the gates during Icehouse, many people had left after the Presets, so it allowed us to get into the "red oval" section ie right in front of the stage for Great Southern Land, a memory that'll be etched in my mind for ages, being only meters away from the stage! As Iva said the song has lyrics that are so true of the fires and mean more today then it ever has.
I also scored a photo under the end of the last Beer Snake! It stretched for a good 100 meters and took half an hour to build. It got to us, we put in our contribution, got a photo under it, then security come and broke it up. Was good to see the cops and security letting us have some safe fun tho by letting 3 snakes be built all day, then once they got in peoples way then they'd say its time to break them up.
My only dissapointment was that I left after Icehouse so I missed the melbourne cross to Midnight Oil, which is what I was looking forward too
Oh and my pants are wet from walking in water, and my shirt smells like beer. Someone threw a half full cup for the snake and it went splash all over me
But definately the best $75 Ive ever spent by far
I was also listening to NOVA re-play certain songs on the way home.
How did everyone else go??
I was watching it all through a big tv and sound system, i would have loved to have seen Coldplay and Farnham in person, but oh well at least i got to see it. I hope (but doubt) they release an album with all the best performances.
But i know they wont, so when its replayed on foxtel ill record it on PC and edit the music out myself![]()
They will more than likely release a dvd and donate the proceeds. They tend to do that with most charity concerts.
I was going to go but had to work from 12 to 4pm. The line up seemed to be aimed at the old timers with all the has been bands. The presets would of been awesome.

I went to the MCG Sound Relief, was one the best days out i have ever had. Kings of Leon and Midnight Oil were fantastic, Kings of Leon sound fantastic live, almost exactly the same as you were listening to their album.
Then yeah, was just wondering around with the boys, after Kings of Leon we pissed off to the pub in Richmond for a bit then came back.

Theyve been playing the music all day throughout various radio stations, I heard Coldplays songs again and heard King Of The Mountain finally after working out they were last on at the MCG which is why we missed it
Had we realised so much of the crowd had acctually left we wouldve stayed another hour, we didnt feel like coming up against more drama trying to get out at the same time as everyone else, but when we woke up this morning we sort of worked out it would have been no where near as busy as most of the crowd had left after the Presets, as all that was left was Icehouse and Barry Gibb/Olivia Newtron Bomb
Still I got to heard Your the Voice and Great Southern Land so Im still wrappedand watching the news highlights tonight I realise just how wet it got at the SCG
Something I forgot to mention was when the sun went down the lightening came out, we all agreed, lightening over a darkened SCG with the Presets playing looked awesome![]()
Yeah just before Kings of Leon came onstage down here, they live telecasted Coldplay onto the MCG's 4 or so MASSIVE TV screens, i hate Coldplay with a passion, but i gotta admit, they sound great over such a monster of a sound system.
Midnight Oil did it for me, they were fantastic, the bay i was sitting in, everyone was grabbing each other and slapping hands and stuff, was ****ing amazing!!

**** if i had of known you were going i would have had a beer with ya!!
Honestly one of the best days out i have ever had, once in a lifetime gig that was, you will never get all those bands back together in one show ever again.
How funny was it during the minutes silence when that ******** yelled out "Aussie Aussie Aussie" and waited for everyone to yell back "Oi Oi Oi", but all he copped during the dead silence was some bloke yelling back "Shut the **** up" then another bloke yell out "Have some ****ing respect!!!!!!!!"
Everyone was silently like "Yeeeaaaaah, cop that you ********". Was just gold, he got owned in front of 80,000 people in the DEAD silence at the MCG. How often is that gonna happen? It was like the ultimate ownage![]()

Incredible day simply put.
I have such respect for the bands I saw (mostly).
Even bands that Im not particularly fond of were incredible, you don't have to like there music to appreciate the talent.
The second half of the day was definitely the best, and really set the whole day off.
I was disappointed the way they herded everyone into Gate T and so many people missed The beginning of the show, especially when is someone as big as coldplay were opening, Im sure there were people there that were looking forward to that the most.
The security were a bit of a joke, but the police there did a great job, I think they allowed a good level of fun and still kept everything safe and under control.
But overall a great day and one that Im sure I wont ever forget.
