There is a reason why Commodore is number 1 since 1979. Its the best Aussie car. I loved my VL and I love my VE. I cant help it.
When I was around 13 or so, drove an old landcruiser up on a farm, for a day or two..
Then pretty much when I got my L's had bought a VH SLE.. learnt in that with mum by my side.. lol..
Dad mostly taught me to drive in his 73 Ford Fairlane. It was a tank of a car for a 16 year old girl!
Then brought my first car a VN commodore from my brother for $300.
My ex tried to teach me in his Vh brock replica commy but I needed 2 feet to push the clutch down so yeah that was a problem...lol Also made t 10 times harder when I crunched gears and could tell he felt like punching me..lol
My brothers helped me get my hours up in a Pulsar and a ford XR8 ute.
When it comes time to teach my kids I'm buying a cheapo car and getting proper driving lessons. I learnt 2 many bad things from my brothers...lol
I bought a Colt (manual) for my first car and my Mum showed me how to drive. Started driving out the salt flats to start with.

A HZ? Ute was the first car I remember driving, 308 and 4 speed, had to have someone do the peddles for me as I couldnt reach. I think I was about 4 or 5 when I first drove. Growing up on farms I drove pretty much anything that would move or could be towed lol.
First car I drove on the road was a Mazda Metro 121, as mum wouldnt take me, so my Gf at the time Grandma took me for a drive, no instructions, just drive.
When I was 14 Dad taught me to drive around the farm in our WB 'tunner. He'd set up barricades with old roundup containers to teach me about keeping road position and stuff, it was good.
When I got my L's, I learnt to drive in a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer, and then ended up getting my P's in a TR Magna.

I drove any possible time I got the chance - I even used to wash my folks cars just because I'd be allowed to move them around the front yard to do so!.... though dad must have always wondered why i'd water the ground just in front of the rear wheels and get the cars dirty again when moving them back lol.
On My L's I predominantly learnt with my dad in the big block 1.5 '96 Festiva manual. Also got to drive the brand spank VT (at the time) followed by the AU wagon.
My brother would let me drive his '82 Starion 2.0 turbo occasionally - and that thing seemed like a weapon at the time!
we also used to do all stupid kinds of stuff in paddocks/fields at a mates place with dunger corollas and such.
One thing I did learn from learning, though - if you're teaching boys to drive, take them out to do skids first up - so they realise they have 0% car control when they're first starting out, and they don't try to slip skids in 'accidentally' when taking off from lights or turning corners![]()
my young sis decided that she wasnt going to be outdone by her older brother (once she found i was sneaking around in the VC valiant) so she started the val without engaging the clutch and it was in first gear....it hit a wall (on the starter motor) and slightly crunched the bumper. that was the end of the VC valaint rides...

Learned to drive in mums VL calais turbo when i was about 14, just driving around the property. When i got my L's i bought a rusted out HJ Kingswood with the big red 308! The thing blasted all the time and never had any trouble with it (besides the massive rust holes in every panel) but with petrol prices hitting close to $1.50 that one just sat for a while and i drove a 86 supra sx that my brother gave me when he got his new car for my P's. Just recently my mother, who is involved with the fire brigade took the old holden to the fire training centre and set fire to it! She never did like that big old thing.

A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car

then mum taught me to drive, was a ea ford falcon.
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
I learned in anything I could, my adice to anyone out there is start in a BRONCO :P if you reverse paralell park that, you wont have any problems later when you drive a smaller car.
Get plenty of lessons with a pro too, and make sure you get someone who states clearly upfront that they will not assist you to get your P's untill they believe you are truelly ready.

First car I ever drove was a VY SS when it was the current model![]()

From the Gemini I traded to a VB 253 4 speed.
