gday all
My mate is registered on the SAU forums and he explained that they are doing a bulk buy in hand held walkie talkies. Good for car cruises. anyway I was thinking its a good idea and that maybe we could do the same thing. If enough people wanted to buy one, surely we could organise a bulk buy. let me know what you think or if its just stupid.
just to let u know in wa its illegal to use them whilst driving dont know bout vic. just giving u a heads up
I've driven fast cars I've done stupid shit in them each time i seem to come out on top i love you guardian angel

Hand helds are not illegal to use in WA while driving. They are not a phone and only hand held phones are illegal to use while driving.
It's totally legal to use a UHF radio device that's fixed to your car, with a handheld talking piece. (the sort with a receiver, aerial, and cord handset). I'm not sure about the self-contained portable handheld numbers. Truckies use them for a job. We used to use them on Vic Chapter cruises back when petrol was cheaperhaha I still have a couple lying around.

are these devices illegal in SA too ? i herd u need a permit or something for a CB radio in ur car or am i mistaken ?
What's the point of a bulk buy? You can pick them up for under $40 these days. Low power ones, but they're perfect for a cruise.
