I usually pose this question on most forums i become a part of. I'm always curious to know who are firies...... it's often surprising just how many people on these forums are a member of a brigade.
Who is a firie? paid, unpaid, which agency?
My brigade is based in Scone, called "Kingdon Ponds" of which i am the captain. Part of the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Some of our work is bush and grassland fires... the majority of it is MVA's, which is unfortunate, but being based on the New England Hwy, it's part of the territory.

Talked to a lot of the CFA guys at Healesville as well. Great bunch of guys
We work closely with the NSWFB here in town since both services signed a "Mutual Aid Agreement" so we often get responded to the structural fires here in town, and they get responded to the MVA's out of town.

Keeping an old thread alive.
I’m a fire fighter in the TFS down here in Tasmania. Grove brigade. Lots of MVA's because of the main hwy going through our area and few vegetation fires here and there in summer.
An old SA CFS member before i moved to tassie. Way better trucks in SA! haha
Cheers

I was with the ACT RFS until the fires in 2002/2003. Was on the truck for over 48hrs with very little rest, flashed over twice and saw shit that actually made me scared for my life (even going to Iraq with the RAAF didn't scare me) for the first time ever... All but 1 of the crew from quit after that. Volunteering to risk your life? No thanks!
Yeah not a bad point there, fires do get bloody scary at times. But somebodys got to do it aye?
