Hey fellas, just thought I'd share the pictures of my now written-off VS
Late Monday night after I finished work, i was driving home in the pouring rain that NSW is currently experiencing. Before i tell you what happened i would like to say i was NOT breaking the law in any way or form. I was doing 60km/h in a 60 zone and a cat has bailed across the road in front of me, Instinctively i have swerved and lost control and slid up the gutter on the opposite side of the road and straight into a security fence and a large concrete post.
The VS is obviously a write off, and I only have Third Party Property insurance, so at least that covers the damages to the businesses property i hit, but my excess is $1750 with the $400 or so fine i have to pay for Negligent Driving.
Im just glad no one was injured as I was by myself, if i hit on my side i think it could be a different story.
I guess im upset as its quite hard to find a factory manual VS, and its gone. So heres some pictures of my pride and joy
And yes i know, i should of run over the cat, but it happened so quick it was just an instinct reaction.
ALSO, after some opinions shall i sell it for scrap? Or should i try and sell individual parts and wreck it on this website even?? Anyone after some parts?

bummer mate. i guess they sting you the fine for not driving to the conditions - put it down to inexperience and move on. Glad you are ok though.
My thoughts on parting - if you have the space and time to do it by all means pull it apart and see what you can get rid of. Pretty common car so if you offload bits at less than the wreckers then you are bound to make more than scrapping it (though i have no idea what scrap pays for a wreck - a wrecking yard will give you very little for it though). Time and space.... and you'll learn plenty pulling bits off.
**waits for the first kid to use the way too old 'it'll buff out' line**
better change those instincts. dont swerve. brake if there is noone behind you, otherwise just hit the damn cat

Find a good body VS and swap your good bits over.

That sucks mate! Does the drivetrain still function to some extent? You may be able to find a VS with a blown motor and do a reshell. You'll definately get more selling the parts but it depends on how much time and patience you have
Sorry to hear mate. Looks like it was a good, clean original car before the accident. As others have said though, you should never swerve to avoid an animal...lots of people have lost it that way.
As for selling parts, even if you don't have the time or space to wreck the whole car, I'd at least take off all the parts required to do a manual conversion and sell them seperately as a kit, get more $$$ for them.

wreckers will give you squat, same as scrap metal.
Judging by the impact in the pictures your drive line shouldn't be affected. Your engine may be slightly off, but it might also be salvageable! Find a cheap VS with a engine that has shit itself but has a good body and swap over everything! A bit of work to do, but would be worth it!
shizen. sorry to hear about the car
best thing is that ur in one piece n no one else was hurt
and i agree with everyone else, yeh u mightnt find another factory manual, but you can take your factory manual out of it and put it in another car with a screwed motor.
swap it over, n hock off all the bits you dont want, you will make a good amount of mula from it, maybe even pay for the new car??!
well best of luck with it all
im after parts myself,
parcel shelf (that hasnt met a chainsaw to get 6x9s in..)
door trims (preferrably factory elec windows)
whole centre console incl stereo surround and stereo holder?? (wouldnt mind wood grain maybe :P )
theres more but cant think of them off top of my head atm =\
yes i know you might not have half of those, but everyone reading this, if you have these parts or know a mate, pm me
well anyway, good luck again, keep us posted of updates

man that sucks i had to swerve to miss a roo at dusk out near kinaroy in an old 1984 bluebird. i made the same mistake and spared the life off the roo but seeing it was a big male i probablywould have come off 2nd best anyways. story was i rolled the car several times and im still here yaya. but yeah if small hit it
dont worry lad i know alot of people that have seen a animal on the road tried to miss it and next thing they know their car is upside down, me personally i aim for them lol though my car is that low i'd probably get beached on a small rodent
But did you miss the cat?!, I know a lady that swerved to miss a Koala, lost control went down an embankment, rolled it a few times. She still says today that at least she missed the Koala and she would do it all again
, Having instict to miss things is good I reckon, you can be sure someones going to be grumpy at you if you run over a 4 year old kid chasing a ball and didn't try and swerve, just learn to not lock it up next time so you can still steer the thing.
P.S I think you can find a VR/S with a dead motor for very cheap and swap all your nice bits, that would be the thing to do
Dam that looks painfull.
I hate seeing tragedies like this.
Are you going to repair it or look for another car?
Unrucky mate, id be lookin for another shell I have one actually im pretty far away tho id assume the factory manual would be worth a bit wouldn't mind it myself
At least ur ok mate, could have been alot worse
The Blue One
Ohh nasty, but at least you are ok.
It'll buff o........ DAMMIT someone beat me to it.
Pity about the car - but it's good that you ended up okay. Cars are replacable - kittys and people aren't.
The neg driving ticket is a bit of bollocks - just salt in the wound really... how is swerving to avoid hitting an animal negligent?..
Maybe if you neglected to swerve for it, the ticket would be warranted.
Anyway - parting out is always a bit more trouble than it seems. If you can be bothered waiting for people to show up/not show up, bartering, etc etc - then sure, go for it. - otherwise sell it complete (perhaps keep the manual conversion!)
Good luck!
its against the law to swerve for animals. far to dangerous, could have taken out another car with kids in it, who knows. i see loads of flat cats and possums in my areatrucks love them! hehe
wow thats very bad u better not do it again
people might disagree with me for saying it but i agree with the negligent driving ticket - if that's the result of a cat wandering in front of you then you need to sharpen up your driving skills. i've had cats walk out in front of me and i just go right over them, i'm not running off the road and into god-knows-what for a cat.
People are animals too
How to be a good Australian Citizen: Drive a Camry, Become another number in the system, Dob in all other numbers for un-numberlike behavior (no matter how slight), Base all your opinions solely on the information provided by T.T. and A.C.A., Believe everything our gracious Government Tells you to.
People can be very attached to a cat, I'd ve happy to risk bending my car to avoid causing someone that stress to someone anytime, it's only a bit of metal. Big difference to anything that's alive. If there really is a law against swerving for animals then Australia is more screwed over than I could have possibly imagined. I've been maximum sideways dodgy animals before and will contonue to do so. My wife does get a little upset when frogs cause me to run a slalom course but whatever she didn't have to get in the car
