The Stimulus Package Thread

There's been a few threads over the past weeks about the stimulus package (all aspects of the budget, not just the payment), though all ended up getting locked because they were too similar and had people asking when they were getting their money, but that meant there wasn't even one place to discuss the payment.

To help keep this thread open please don't ask when you're getting it or if you're eligable. Use the ATO website or give them a phone call on 1300 686 636.

Now that's out of the way, I just got mine in my bank account today. I'm with NAB. I found it interesting that despite the fact that the government has my everyday bank account information the money ended up in one of my savings accounts (linked to the everyday). Perhaps my bank moved it so I could get interest or save it which I found interesting considering the government wanted us to go out and spend spend spend. Guess the banks have a different idea about that.

What am I going to do with it? My wife has been on maternity leave through last year and didn't work so she's not eligable to receive a payment so I'm giving her half ($450). I'm putting my half away because I want to buy a VS for wrecking - I need too many parts that it's actually cheaper and it's always handy to have a spare everything (that works, anyway).

The other ones were closed because everybody was asking when they would get their payments Jesterarts. I was aware and mindful of the other threads when I created this one.

I simply wanted to know who'd got it yet and what they've spent or plan on spending the money on... it's still an interesting and valid (for those who have jobs, anyway) thread right up until they stop giving the money out (and don't you think it's easier to have one central thread than 2 per week?)

I got the student one, I only started work just after the financial year so didnt do a tax return, but I should get a fair bit back in tax this year anyway, since I paid tax on a full time job, and i havent worked for 4months lol.

Mine will just sit in the bank and be spent on petrol, Im currently spending more a week on petrol then I even earn lol so its going to help keep me out of debt till I get back into work.

haven't got mine yet, the girlfriend made me promise to use it to pay off my Credit card and said she'd be really, really angry if she found out i'd spent any on anything else...

...yeah i laughed too, it's going in the 5 litre fund.

THough I've already spent 250 of mine on a new graphics card... but I had the money for that anyway.

And the rest will be blown at a converse store on shirts, a new messenger bag and shoes...

Now it's just the waiting game...

Tossing up whether i should trade my car in for a vtII clubby and use the rudd money on bits and pieces for it.. very tempting.

All I can say, as car enthusiasts it does open up a lot of possibilities for our hobbies and interests... I know to some it's only $900 but for some it's $900!

Just on the price it'll get you:
- Registration
- Insurance
- Cat back exhaust and extractors
- Repairs
- Wheels and tyres
- ICE components
- Suspension stuff
- Old project car
- Tinted Windows
- Some of the above with change left over!
- etc.

Of coarse for those with partners the budget is a touch less than $900, haha. Looking forward to seeing where some of you folks put your money in the My Ride section (if you choose to sink it in your car)

I think you mean a Kinetic Watch.
unless the technology has changed in the last 10 years, the watches are utter crap.
the theory is sound, however, the reality is very different.
this is something you really should look up and read some reviews about before you go splashing the money on one.

As for the $900 - havent got it yet and dont know what to spend it on.

Got mine yesterday, paid off some personal debt, saving some for new furniture, rest goes toward car service on Monday. I was originally going to use it for my tinted windows which I'm getting tomorrow (yay!) but I had saved up that myself. $900 is great, its helped, but in the scheme of things its not that much.

i think cheap ones might be crap, i got a hell expenso one (bought it cheaper tho) and it never misses a beat. doesn't lose time or run out of charge, only does that if i take it off and leave it off for a couple of days.

tag have a rad one that instead of a pendulum spinning in a full 360, has a piston that goes up and down. i went to the launch of it and it had a massive mock up, looked sick.

Go the citizen ecodrive, have had one for almost 10 years that cost close to $1k and never had an issue with it, just have to make sure you leave it in the light to maintain a charge.
