yeh my mums uncle was in darwin (i think it was) when the top of australia got attacked by the japanese,

and my pop (my dads dad) was in singapore when it got attacked, and was captured by the japanese, said if the british hadn't serended the aussies would have defended it, apparently came with in centimetres of being killed durring combat, but got in first with the bayonet,

    lest we forget,

alot of brave young soldiers helped defend our country so we could have what we have today.

    May they never be forgotten.

At todays service, they made a good point, regarding how more of the younger generation are starting to attend services, it was good to see how many of us were there, and its what we need to keep the Anzac Day tributes alive.

yeh saw a picture in the herald sun today about people going to the shrine dawn service drunk and shouting out comments and wearing short skirts/dresses that barely covered them, like they'd pulled all nighters and just come from the bars and clubs in the city.

nice words but if youre a true australian you should join the army reserve and train for the defence of our counrty, get paid tax free and work your normal job at the same time.
you get to work with and use machinery and weapons that most will only see on tv,that is if you have it in you.
but its nice to say thank you.

Sorry - gotta disagree with that. You don't need to do those things to show you are a "true Australian". There are many ways.

Yeah...being a reservist is being a true Australian</end sarcasm here>, many reservists are there for the cheap alcohol and tax free pay and thats it. Never did I meet more cluster ****s in one area than when reservists were around.

You can be a true Australian without serving the country.

Many wars we have been involved in have prevented attacks happening on this country. If people used your logic, World War II would have had a much different outcome for Australia.
