Overhaulin Australia?
Hey guys decided to make this thread on why isnt there a overhaulin Australia or any tv show like that in aus. Im watching overhauling on tv at the moment and thinking how come we havent thought of anything like this, it would be very cool i reckon so ive put up a poll and i wanna see what you guys think.

and what business in australia does the sort of work overhaulin does?
Notice how they always do jobs on cars where they can just dial up all the spare body bits and everything, we dont have that sort of infrastructure for our older cars.

Good point about the infrastructure. It all relates to size of market and demand. I am often amazed when watching Overhaulin' where they enter warehouses stuffed full of NOS or replicas parts for an astonishing range of vehicles.
I suppose that over the years, with the multitude of US models that were made, there would have been huge stocks of parts unused when production of each model ceased.
Rare Spares might like to see it happen, but they might be a little light on with stock after a couple of days......
could possilbly do a PIMP MY RIDE Aussie version definately not Overhaulin as said before to hard to get parts for most of our classics

there was rumors about 2 years ago that Pimp my Ride was being Developed for the Australian Market, my mate is an airbrush artist that was approached to participate, But it never ended up getting off the ground.

Unfortunatly.... whenever we copy a show from somewhere else... its no where near as good.. it just ruins it.
Top Gear australia is coming back soon and already with new hosts, but the hosts werent the only problem (they were a big part of it, but still)
Australias got talent... i mean... i know people watch it, but its pretty crap. Same with so you think you can dance australia - somehow, america still does it better.
And biggest loser... the aus version actually makes me HATE the show that i liked all those years ago... Ok, i can see with my own eyes that AJ walked into the room... 3 contestants dont have to tell me "and then AJ walked in"

Anyway.. the point of all this rambling is... i dont think we should copy shows, coz theyll never be quite as good.. instead, make something different and unique rather than something 'new' which is already old news
in conclusion (lawlz) my vote goes for no, just based on our track record of ruining other shows.

After seeing the amount of places that butchered small jobs for me, auto electricians, painters, panel beaters, mechanics. I'd really hate to see what would happen on full scale.
But no doubt there's good ones somewhere.

Its a free to air station in Sydney. They do a pimp my ride type show with 4WD's. and go in the tuff truck challenge.

i rekon a monster garage type show would be better, getting new people each week that have to build something crazy would be better to watch.
I wish there was somewhere that you could send an email and a vote toll or somthing like that saying that we want eg...all the shows we have mentioned in this thread lol.
Bush mechanics was a good show :P bring that back, it wouldn't be as good in any other country

I bought it on DVD and I still crack up everytime I watch it. My favorite part is where they cut the roof of the wagon off with an axe and say that it's all rusted and is full of termites

That could be the answer, making alot of custom parts might cost them a fair bit..
