Currently looking into becoming a 1st year apprentice mechanic, now that I'm mature age. It makes it harder to gain entry to some places, but I can expect around $300p/w as opposed to the $220p/w that a mate of mine makes as a 19yo 1st year.![]()

when i started my parts interpreter apprenticeship 3 years ago i was on 6.69and hour, i think im around 12 an hour now, about to finish next weeki get about $400 -$450 a week. but i get paid bonusus and overtime through my host employer not my apprentieship provider which bumps it up quite a bit.
Holy mother I was paid $164p/w for 40hrs in my first year!
VN - VY V6 Kalmaker tuning.
^^^ Damn... that sucks! But I guess you're still learning... like my gf is in her last year of uni to be a nurse... and they work at various hospitals getting experience... for free... But still... takes a fair bit of commitment to work 40 hours for 164 bux!
Wow that's pretty low. My partner is a 1st year apprentice boiler maker. Mature-age works from 6.00 till 4 monday to fir and 6 to 12 on sat and brings home just over $600 a week.
I dont think that's too bad
second year F&T i was making about $330 a week after tax thats a 40 hour week monday to friday

Check out my ride!
Reading that I feel for DVSV8, that apprenticeship seems like a joke to me, 3 years and your walking away on $500 a week!!!! That pays below working retail in something like Safeway full time.
Stonemason here, I don't know why more people don't look into it. Can be heavy work of course but top pay and no real unemployment worries as no one seems to want to do it!
1st year was 300
2nd 400
3rd 500
4th 600. This is all for an apprentice plasterer and that is after tax before any overtime

I bet you guys can't want to start full time to earn the big bucks! I'm so glad I never did an apprenticeship. Contract rates FT-MF-W!
Apprentice Fridgy. Take home around 290 p/w after tax.
U gotta think long term though bud. Full time chefs dont get penaltie rates and get around half the pay of tradesmen. Aswell as working most weekends, its the closest job to slave labour i can think of. I was an apprentice chef for 6 months until i realised what i was getting myself into. A good job though if your REALLY passionate about cooking.
Apprentice Boilermaker
$6.80 p/h
$260-$300 p/w
will be on 2nd year soon tho dunno rates for them as of yet
im a first year on the council as a heavy vehicle mechanic earning $550p/w after tax which will see a $20 p/w increase as of next week as i go second year and yes im an adult apprentice
Im on about $450 a week, as a mature age second year mechanic.
Have a second job aswell just to help with incidentals.
