A lot of the crud in the plenum is coming via the EGR valve, you guys need to get that valve sorted out so its not dumping crude and ultra hot exhaust gases into your intakes.

When I removed my plenum cover the other day I was absolutely suprised to see it as clean as when I fitted the lid 50 000km ago, the EGR dumps nasty residue right through you intake system besides making it 30C hotter than you need it to be.

Read between the lines here ok, EGR is important to reduce engine emissions ok ......... ahem and should be left in place

Sometimes the gasket under the EGR valve needs support, so you simply take out the original gasket, you tracet its outline onto a bit of tin, cut around the outside, punch/drill 2 holes for the bolts to pass through as well. Just don't cut any other holes, fit the tin plate with silicone on one side and the original gasket fitted to the other side, bolt the valve down and your down. You will be looking after that EGR valve just fine

It can, I personally don't have experience with it and a lot of my customers better results have come from twin 2.25 or in more extreme cases twin 2.5"

BF series 4.0 6 cyl Falcons have the perfect pipe size but it cant be bought anywhere, bigger than 2.5 but smaller than 3", gets away from drone issues a lot better but really nails the flow equation spot on

Could you put a ls1 exhaust on it? could you match the v6 extractors to line up with the LsI exhaust

It would be cheaper you would think with all the aftermarket options available for a LS1. im thinking twin 2.5in but a single 3in would be cheaper.

new system went on today, 2and a 1/4 Y pipe to a 2.5inch hi flow cat to a small straight thru muffler then to a tiny like a hot dog to reduce noise at the rear. all 2.5 inch, revs straight out to 6grand now. but i still think its running lean

OK if you believe it is running lean (not confirmed or is it?)

The following 2 items should be checked

    1. Replace fuel filter if it has not been changed in the last 5000km

    2. Clean inside air flow meter with some electronics cleaning fluild (CRC Electroclean) and blow dry with compressed air.

Being sure on both of those will pretty much sort it unless the airflow meter is dying/dead or you have a dying fuel pump. Replace pump with stock Holden item for budget fix (which works perfectly) or go a 255lph Walbro.

Tune has been spot on for absolutely dozens of our customers cars and I will accept that it may not be right for everyone in the odd instance something is weird.

Anyhow check your bits and pieces out and see how it goes from there

    tim,

the air flow meter is new , fuel filter was done maybe 7000 ago and i always run vpower fuel, its not confirmed, the reason i think is from the whole exhaust system glowing red after a 60sec burnout comp,
i am going to get a new K n N, i am still using the one terry supplied me with from when he got the kit from you,

    [QUOTE=Raptor Charged VX;1196329]tim,

the reason i think is from the whole exhaust system glowing red after a 60sec burnout comp,
    iQUOTE]

Buring 380hp worth of fuel and with no airflow to cool anything will always turn metal red, definitely not an indicator.

Now is probably a timely reminder for anyone going supercharging.

Always put in place today something thats good for tomorrow, many people run the 10psi kit and are happy for a long time then they begin to think what 2 more psi would do .......... as we all do. No problem with this but if you have only put a just enough exhaust, or maybe intercooler piping too small or some other limiting thing then its not possible to experience the full grunt of the next step.

Food for thought and everyone is welcome to do what they will, comment is based entirely on my own experience. If any pointers needed always refer to Project VY, all important bits were covered except for valve springs which would have made a difference with the high lift rockers.
