    Smile What I know

Well the ones I know about are a bit like this, something to remember here is all of these are just everyday vehicles built within a reasonably tight budget, by that I mean nothing over $7.5K for all of the boosting sytem, obviously exhausts and the like all add up to more but for the most part motors are unopened stockers that have been hugely flogged but remain trouble free.

    VS V6 ute (centrifugal6) went 13.4 on 8.5psi intercooled

VS V6 sedan (rdtrippin) 13.2 on 10.5psi Intercooled

VR V6 Sedan ( JC member) went 13.0 on 11psi Intercooled ... a 12 sec pass definitely on the cards for this one

    VZ V6 Sedan (impulsesV6) went 13.5 on 8.5psi Intercooled

ok i was looking at v6supercharged at the et section

The Quarter Mile - Forced Induction Technologies - Australia's V6 Supercharged Specialists

Danes has 211kw and runs 11.99. what makes him run 11.99 and mine running high 13s ?is it the set up or just the way the power is delivered from the 2 different engine set ups? 11.99 is fast

A cetrifugal blower can only go fast from a standing start if you run a manual or a big stall converter, all the guys that race them here are leaving the line at 4000-4500 rpm in V8's, that's the kind of setup you need to aim for if you want to run a good time with one. You can knock a second off your time with a stall alone on these things. The cars on the fit page have a big advantage in low end power and that's why they are so fast in comparison

those arent raptors. m90s are just better suited for racing

yeah i was just interested. i know they have a lower diff ratio and a stally but i was just curious to see if a raptor could pull thoughs numbers

how does the L67's/M90's compare to turbo....

both have heaps of boost down low

turbo, screw, and cetrifugal are all different

so on what part of the rev range does the raptor affect the most compared to the m90

The M90 is strong from idle and into the midrange with a pretty soft top end.

The Raptor is starting from 3000rpm and pulling like a train the the redline with increasing power every rev.

An M90 with good exhaust etc may give around 165rwkw on 9psi

A Raptor V with very good exhaust may take you up to 205rwkw at 9 - 10psi.

You can see there is quite a difference in efficiency between the two at their rated pressure

Someone should run a Raptor into a SC14, just for fun to see what happens. Can you wind up a single Raptor enough to get 16 psi or so into it? on a V6. You could spin the SC14 to 12-13 psi at 4000 then switch it off

So basically a stally would make the times drop with a raptor? say 2500rpm

ohh i would rather a raptor anyday i just cant work out why the power is the same but the et are so different.

would it be the drivetrain set up

The whole thing is to get as much average torque on the ground as you can over the length of the track. So for you, leaving the line at 2500 or better still 3000 rpm when you have some boost would be a big help

Hmmm, for a standing start yes. a centrifugal will make more power and for less parasitic loss then a PD type blower at high revs, so for circle track work where RPM's are high the centrifugal would be better. another good example would be the tractor pull racing which Tim has mentioned elsewhere.

yeah im finding it really interesting. because i was going to turbo mine originally that is what i was investigating but now i have brought a raptor. im going to have to set up the car different. shorter diff ratio and stally and lsd will make a big difference

if you check some of the faster L67's there also running high stall converters and 3.9 diff ratio's. there is a lot more to making a L67 go fast then simply bolting on the smallest pulley you can find.

Those are the ones I know off, there could be others that I have no clue about, those are ones I have been aware of personally. Some of the early LS1 kits would have ripped of significantly better times but for now I just talk about the V6's that I know have achieved.

A 5 or 6 speed auto really makes a centrifugally equipped car shine, keeps the blower within 2 psi of its max pressure for the whole quartermile.

Or how about a Mirage with a Lancer 2.0 engine and DOHC from a GSR with a Raptor V supercharger running 15psi and a BIG cooler. Been running 15psi for 5 years, YEP 5 YEARS!!!

    Runs a 12.6 quartermile WSID

The charger is coming in for its first service next week
