    Default Supercharging an 09' Prado...

this may sound a bit odd but my boss is very keen on more power from his prado, its a v6 on petrol and i thought u guys would be the best people to turn to or atleast point me in the right direction.

it would be much appreciated if you could let me no if this is possible, how much it cost and expected power gains.

    thanks guys

Hilux and Prado 4.0 V6 Kits

The 1GRFE engine is an exceptional engine in stock form however it can yield incredible power increases very easily with just a small amount of supercharging. The easily fitted Raptor system complete with ECU preprogrammed will instantly increase power from 175 to 310kw at the first little step, then with intercooling and liquid cooled supercharger the power exceeds 350kw.

The Hilux is "unbreakable", the Raptor kit makes "unbeatable" by almost anything else.

Suitable for 2WD and 4WD vehicles inc Prado

As most here would know we traded our VY V6 project car for the Hilux 4.0 V6 so we could develop the supercharger kit more fully for the Hilux/Prado range.

I would like to work with it a bit more before I sell some more kits, the power figures are real for sure, I am just in the process of producing a smooth idle, everything else about it is just perfect. The power is insane

Just so you know its for real, check out the very stock Hilux we now have. Will become a 360Kw monster in sheeps clothing

Your boss is possibly looking for a whole of vehicle warranty, thats not something that happens much in the supercharger industry, we do a "Supercharger System" Warranty which covers you for anything going wrong with the kit but not for anything else with the powertrain.

We can offer LESS powerful kits which will still pull the bend out of a River and give the boss complete peace of mind that the vehicle will remain Toyota reliable.

In this day and age a properly tuned engine lasts just as long with a charger on it as without or so close you can't pick the difference, so long as the servicing is spot on.

Yes it would affect toyotas warranty as you are installing an aftermarket item.

The only bits that will get affected in the toyota warranty will be the items that the charger is associated with.

Does the kit you provide push out 360kW? Or is your one a little different.

I've got an SR5 which I'm keen to supercharge...

And obviously the intercooled system will be alot more powerful.

haha yeah they are quite difficult to control especially in the wet.

I've changed my stock wheels and now run 295s in the rear and when I'm in second and going up a hill, it crabs the whole way up

    Yeah basically mate.

But if you have already gone through your warranty with toyota then you got nothing to lose.

This method is alot better then getting a TRD hilux which is only 225kW@fly.

I'd rather spend the 6 or so grand and have close to 240rwkw

Toyota wouldn't want a bar of anything in the drivetrain after a blower kit was fitted, same goes for ANY brand of car on the planet, well maybe not that new Hyundai rear drive car they released in the USA, they are pretty much encouraging people to boost it with superchargers and the like!!

If anyone would like to suggest a very popular Hilux/Prado forum, particulary Hilux tho please put up some links.

I would like to do something similar with Toyota as I do here on JC

Another example of just how excellent Toyota engines are. Its like the reason the words reliable and quality were made. Too much evidence to prove how good they are. Holden still need a bit of catching up to do on the quality side of things. Although the Alloytecs and later LS engines are really shaping up to be good things. The Holden engines are good, but its the stuff around the engine that falls apart, and the shitty LIM gaskets on these things grrr

The only thing limiting the 1GRFE engine in the Hilux/Prado is the open deck of the die cast engine block.

This block is more dimensionally accurate than most anything else but the cylinders are supported from the bottom and nothing at all up the top, they do have heat resistant plastic formers that add rigidity to the cylinders but really 10psi is about it, gets all wobbly after that.

It is simply amazing what power these things can kick out for small amounts of boost.

There is some progress, trialling various exhaust systems at the moment, have the magic item in place, bought from Monster Rides in Sydney. They do the ultimate system for Hilux and Prado.

I will get around to taking pictures etc and discussing it all up here

This will be the first of the Raptor Superchargers kits to feature the Raptor V Hybrid as a standard fitment, capable of delivering enough boost for even the most dedicated Hilux power freak

    Cool Hilux power

    OK

Some updates on my Hilux and with exhaust mods

I formulated a reasonable design for a Hilux exhaust system, this has been turned into metal and is now marketed by Monster Rides in Sydney

Email Monster Rides at this address: matty@monsterrides.com.au

    Results from the exhaust system

    20 - 21 rwhp GAIN

10 - 14 rwhp EXTRA with a Cold air intake

I went from 173rwhp - 206rwhp with all the above

The attached sheet shows the difference of the exhaust only and tested in 2nd gear if I recall

Will add the next sheet later so no one is confused

The gains are around 21rwhp from the exhaust only - you can buy this dyno proven system as a ph order bolt on from Monster Rides
