Yes thats close enough to it. Because we dont offer an intercooled system for the VS it would mean if clutch pulley was used then the boost is TOO high for a non intercooled setup. Its only safe to use if intercooler is in the equationEDIT- my bad just re-read the boost levels with the clutched pulley

I was thinking along those lines. I dont plan to run the charger without an intercooler from the start. Is the pulley expensive to upgrade?
The clutch pulley arrangement is a few bux for sure $220

Not too bad considering you can spend more on a night out. Itching to get my kit. What sort of time frame is expected from purchase to delivery to Sydney, if you dont mind asking?
DPR
You need to let me know a couple of weeks in advance, this allows me to get it ready on time for you. Postage time is around 4 days

Thanks for the info, been more than helpfull.
A new product upgrade has come to mind. Will work on it over the next week or so and test to be sure it delivers the benefits I am hoping for
It will be an even higher flow cooling fan unit, staged unit - the more cooling air the better

Have you ever thought about water cooling? Little radiator, small pump and a sealed gearbox is all you'd need.
O&O
We have been producing a watercooled version for a while now. I did feature it here somewhere, nevermind I will include another image of it here.
You can see the water jacket and where the water fittings screw in. I guess I have produced 4 or so on the last couple of months and another one for customer in Norway last week.
I am absolutely itching to get one on my Hilux ASAP

That looks VERY tidy - I reckon it might increase the loss through the gearbox (through the friction of water) but it'd increase the reliability/durability 5x easy.
There's so many options with these things!
O&O
The water actually goes around the outside of the gearbox in a jacket, that is the raised ridge you can see there. Inside is sealed but still only air around the drive mechanism.

Very good idea Tim - you've put a lot of thought into this for sure.
Today I made a little experiment to see if we can FURTHER punch more air through the charger trans for MORE cooling - this is always a good thing
So here we are
Factory specs of fan: Static pressure: 1.00 (Inch - H2O)
The Raptor test unit specs for 1 fan: 25mm H20 (water gauge) (= 1 inch app) Same result as factory spec sheet. A good start!
Staged Test unit specs: Static pressure: 46mm H20 (water gauge) - 88% increase
That is around 88% PRESSURE INCREASE
The increase which is going to equate to something similar in flow through the 19mm feed hose. The volume of the fans is fan in excess of what you can flow through the hose however increasing pressure means we can get a LOT more through the hose.
Since I haven't ever seen a relatively compact 12V fan with around 46mm of Watergauge pressure yet it means we will make our own using this staged arrangement. As you can now see staging is highly effective for big pressure increases - this is the same staging theory on the Compound Supercharger setup in our other thread here. Feed one unit into the next - easy as!
So for those in HOT climates or are pretty abusive on your Raptor - this is the system for you - get the heat out of your charger.
I now have to create a product that does the same as the test rig in the pics but is a ready to install item
I will call it the Race series Cooling fan - this is the performance needed for max cooling.

Is it possible to stage the old and new fans together? Seeing as I have both present?
Rich
The answer is no
You can only stage the drum type fans such as the one you just bought
In theory you can stage an axial fan such as the old one, I have tried in the past, the motor fails very fast and the pressure gain is pretty ordinary too
The way I have shown is the only strategy and materials combo that's got the numbers on the water gauge to make a big cooling difference

Hey Tim is the 14psi pulley still available for the V - L? If so, how much? and what tools would i need to change it over? I've got the Alloytec from Sydney you mentioned earlier in this thread. Ive had the V-L on for 9 months now and done about 14000kms and its still going strong. I'm keen to see what it really can do at its maximum safe boost. After reading this thread i will be getting one of those cooling fans from Jaycar first!
14psi is pretty high- you'll probably have to drop your limiter a bit to keep the thing in one piece.
Hi Tim,
Great to see a ever increasing range of products/upgrades.
Just thinking, would these improved cooling upgrades increase the maximum rpm's of the Raptor charger? Also can the customer install the water cooled gearbox housing themselves or does the charger need to be returned to you?
Cheers
Bart
