    Smile Raptor New Products thread

This thread will cover anything new that we add to our stock range

We have just added GREDDY (made in Japan) Type S BOVs suitable for all Supercharger and Turbocharger applications - specifically tuned for the Raptor V

Anodised diapraghm cover - purplish colour

The next new product under long term development is the Raptor HDV and HDR supercharger range, depending on how the product trials go as to when we release these 2 beasts to the unsuspecting public

No extra info on HDV and HDR at the moment

i have one of these valves they are very good ,, you can plumb them back in you just need a hose the size of the outlet which im pretty sure they are 32mm

Well sort of a new product

The Raptor V has had a process of evolution of late, it is a spin off of the 2 stroke program we are involved in.

From the end of March 2011 All Raptor Vs will feature a lower weight high speed assembly. The weight of the impeller and its shaft has been fully reduced by 20%

The ID tag for these new models will have a L or a UL after the letter V on the ID tag.

The impeller is 30% less weight and the shaft is 40gr less weight, together the whole assembly is 20% lighter - Benefits - much faster engine acceleration and much much less load on the internal belt during acceleration. Less weight = less inertia = easier to speed it up and down. Lighter weight means less load on high speed bearings also

The test unit on a local 4 cyl Subaru - the owner called immediately saying his vehicles engine response was sharper by a massive amount and overall better performance. He runs 10psi through a WTA cooler.

In addition the belt tension internally is being reduced for improved quietness and less stretch from expansion of transmission case

Over all its quite the thing and I am looking forward to testing it in a higher PSI application on an ECOTEC where the reduced inertia should be a massive benefit at the higher overdrive ratios.

I am genuinely excited at the improvement also

Any existing Raptor V can be upgraded to this new spec - not sure of the pricing yet - quite a bit of machine work in the weight reduction

    RCVX

This is an all new thing that I went banana's on a few days back, I dont think we discussed this one.

The Subie owner just posted on another Subaru forum thread and his opinion is his acceleration has increased 20-30% from idle to mid

Keen to test it in my own Subaru and also on the Hilux

There is certainly some small possibilities to work this into the Hybird, however the Raptor V is far better suited to mass reduction

Hybrid is getting GT Kevlar drive upgrade at present

Ok cool sounds good, im about to get started in modifying the cooler piping to shorten the overall length of the system.

Definitely back this all the way, ive had the lighter gear fitted to mine now for about 3 weeks and i have to say its the go for sure . . . more response earlier in the revs and quicker to spin up.

Just awaiting my full tune on the 18/4 next monday . . . will post results as soon i can.

have to say big thanks to TIM he knows waht hes doing for sure......

    cheers

    Post Feedback

    87LAG

I certainly have been wondering what your thoughts were on it the past few weeks, thanks for the feedback

I have one out with an Alloytec customer and I expect big things in that application

This is proving to be a much bigger step forward in terms of product progress than I had expected and very pleased to roll it out into the new product lines (kits) that I am releasing.

The new internals arent exactly low cost but they do have strong benefit

Change over is $650 which includes the standard full service of bearings and belt

    Default Raptor V LLC

A New Raptor for those wanting quieter operation and low temp supercharging

    New Raptor LLC model

LLC - Light weight internals with Liquid Cooling system

Transmission is 100% sealed - no noise emissions

The high speed bearings are SEALED also.

The liquid cooling provides a pathway to remove heat from the transmission - to preserve the transmission

Use antifreeze solution as per your vehicle engine

Suited - to high end vehicles that need to show refinement and than already have a water to air intercooling system (The kit shown is for a vehicle with no intercooling

Suited to race vehicles than need to run the charger cool for extended reliability

Allow extra time from your order placement for production of this model

overall though im realy happy with the upgrade as i had the old setup for 4 yrs

The next new product or product upgrade as is normally the case here

The Raptor V supercharger will have a decoupler clutch option

This follows testing by one of our resellers in Europe who is involved in circuit/track racing with a vehicle with Raptor V. He has proven that with a decoupler clutch fitted to the Raptor V it make the charger near indestructible, at least in a full race situation where the driver performs thousands of gear changes at near peak engine speeds. The decoupler pulley permits power to be applied to the supercharger in one direction only, this removes a huge amount of load/strain from the supercharger transmission.

As it stands now any vehicle that already has a decoupler clutch fitted to the alternator from the factory will also need a supercharger that has a decoupler clutch as well, this is because once a decoupler alternator is fitted the manufacturers reduce the strength and tension of the belt tensioner system. Therefore, if you are fitting a device such as a supercharger (which has a lot of interia) into a system like this you will have big problems with the autotensioner vibrating and ultimately failing - breaking.

So, Raptor Superchargers will be the worlds first charger with this clutch system for 2 reasons, because it protects the supercharger massively and it will be needed going forward due to new vehicles having decoupler alternators. Hyundai and Kia are 2 Brands that have decoupler alternators now being fitted with superchargers and need a supercharger fitted with same
