    Question Raptor my vx just a few questions ???

    Hey all and to raptor,

    I am looking to raptor my 2002 vx v6 s auto very soon but just have a few questions... if any 1 can help?

    My main question is that with a vx i have been told that u can not change the memcal so how do u get around the computer??? is it a full computer swap and then ge it security linked with a tech2 or wat is the go?

    The other one is wat sort of boost would i be running with a motor that has high ratio rockers and full extractors with 2.5" exhaust?

    If any1 with a vx/vy that has raptored there car there knowledge about the computer setup would be great as to how it all goes and runs.

    Apologies, I did see your PM

    OK to nail your questions

    1. How to change the tune..... Yes it can be changed, so far I know we are the only company offering this service as part of the complete kit price. Our tuning supplier unsolders the main memory chip then installs a new socket into which a replaceable chip can be installed - which has the Raptor tune burnt into it. This is all included in the kit price

    2. The kit for that model is standard at 10psi and is compatible with high lift rockers, high flow exhausts and most other small bolt ons without need to change tune.

    The entire kit/tuning was developed on our own VY Commodore.

    As always make sure to give the car a couple of pulls on the Dyno and make sure car runs safely

    cool cool that makes good sense now. am definitely getin keen for just after chrissy. The only other question is that do i send u the computer?? or send it to the tuner?? and wat is the turn around time????

    sorry for stupid questions just wanna have all bases coovered ie how long with no car while the computer is being sorted....

    pretty sure you send it straight to chip torque and the turn around can be as little as three days with express post
    Current Ride:2003 Vy SS series2. Single mount T04Z and intercooled. 224 232 @590" Vcm Suite Cam, Crow Cam Valve Springs, Aftermarket Lifters, Ls1 Double row rollmaster timing chain. 3000rpm stall converter, 3:46 Diff Gears. Still being tuned!

    You unclip and unplug the ECU, send it via express post to Chiptorque, they do the work - we pay the bill, they send it back to you either via express post or TNT overnight air freight

    You plug ECU back into car, clip into cradle and providing everything under the bonnet is correct the vehicle is more or less ready to GO

    How much PSI can a stock ecotec handle without too much chance of letting go?

    There is a lot of opinion on a matter like this

    If you are buying a product from Raptor - we suggest 12psi should be where you pull up

    If you are buying a product from a turbo kit manufacturer they will say up to 17psi

    Both are right however the safety margin for tuning, bad fuel and abuse of the engine @ 17psi is ZERO

    We say 12psi for 2 reasons, its the max recommended pressure from the supercharger and its a point at which you can provide a decent tune that will cover most eventuality's

    so you in effect convert the vx flash ecu to a memcal ecu like a vt? or have i misread?

    No they put in a chip the same as the Vx one one but it's removable so it can be taken out and reflashed. But it's not a Memcal

    well looks like its happening should all be here friday 11th march . . . computer, injectors, lim gaskets, plenum spacer and manifold insulator 12mm, 2 1/4 twin cat-twin exhaust and plugs are all in and car runs wickedly good and more responsive already.....

    cant wait

    will post up my success.

    Up and running and love it my afm has packed it in and pings at full throttle but will be sorted today

    2nd gear limiter bash here i come . . . : )

    Little issue i have ..... The air intake runs right down near / rests on the exhaust / extractors and from wat i can work out would get very bloody hot

    any on done anything different

    help would be appreciated

    Trim your silicon at the blower and at the the other end and you will raise that U shaped piece to be higher, you can then position it also more towards the guard and gain a larger air gap.

    A bread knife cuts silicon real easy, especially if you use some washing up detergent as a cutting lubricant
