Question Raptor chargers and bov"s ????

Hi all as you have probably read i have recently raptored my vx and all is definitely well so far.....

My question to the raptor guys with experience or tim where ever u may be is can u put a different i.e. turbosmart bov that is plumb back on a non cooled raptor?

also do you still have to run the bosch at the same time? cause i cant see how it would be possible with out the cooler piping to use.

non plumb back i.e. hks super sequential are illegal as we all know cause these are not plumb back but is this ok to run aswell ?????

HOPE some one can help out

    cheers

I run a turbosmart on my daily - I have probably been random breathtested and roady'd 3 or 4 times. Non of them EVER had an issue with it not being a plumb back.

I also just bought a HKS super sequential for my VN - not that it will see street duty.
You wouldn't run the plastic Bosch AND another BOV. One or the other. A plumb back turbosmart isn't going to be any different to the bosch. Not a worthwhile upgrade (unless you are looking to extend your e-wang/ or just doing it for looks).

In your case being non intercooled. you can only run a plumb back BOV, either being bosch or turbosmart, the important thing to remeber is that the final spring pressure of the valve must not exceed 2.5kg, they must be able to open instantly once the throttle is closed to prevent damage to the charger!

There is absolutely no point in changing your BOV on the non intercooled system for the simple fact is you will not gain anything but an empty wallet.

On the other hand, when you intercool it, you can run a large BOV near the charger outlet and either a bosch or Raptor supplied Greddy valve after the cooler before the TB, once again they must retain that 2.5kg opening pressure, anything heaver than that will reduce your chargers life and i think in some cases may void your warranty.

    Good Luck.

The reason y you have to plumb back non intercooled is that your maf is before the charger. Basically if you run your bov atmospheric you are losing air between the maf and the engine so the maf reading is completely wrong. When intercooled the maf is over near the throttle body after the charger and intercooler and bovs so it doesn't matter what you do with the air before that.
